Why not Todd Golden?

My take is: 1) On the court, obviously he's qualified and desirable. 2) If there is any validity to the accusations, then I think he is more of a risk than Beard due to the "habituality" of his transgressions. 3) I wonder how many are "a few" or "several".
Not many details to go on here. If IU is interested, the buyout shouldn't be a factor, but there better be a thorough vetting of this young man. If it was all BS, then I'm in on this guy but if there is even a hint of these allegations being true, then walk away fast b/c he will do it again. Beard, it's questionable if his DV was a "one time" thing or if that is just who he is.
Beard was previously married to Leslie Beard and they have 3 daughters. Are there reports and police files of him having beaten her and the girls? He had a one time altercation with a girlfriend after his divorce. By her own admission, Trew initiated the altercation. Then it gets grey. Was he restrained her? Truly attacking her? How violent was she? And, yet, he’s branded as a “habitual domestic abuser.”

I don't think McCasland will come. Texas guy. Beard would but I doubt he will be offered. Golden's buyout is really high, so he's out. Agree on Drew.

That leaves McCullom, Brownell, and Cronin. Maybe Otzel, but I think he stays. Unless there's a mystery coach.
Those 3 names are not necessarily even being considered.

Indiana has averaged 14 losses per season over then last 17 years. Probably 22 years. Why would they consider Brownell if they want to improve? In 23 years he's only had 4 seasons with fewer than 10 losses. Brad Underwood has had 5 seasons with fewer than 10, in 12 yrs of coaching. Why would Indiana spend millions to hire a guy who isn't even able to win the Big Ten? I don't think Brownell is a candidate.

Take Cronin then. He wins consistently there is no arguing. However this is a guy who recruits players like Lance Stephenson and needs 10 top 100 guys to finish well in the Big Ten. Is it that way every year,no. But does anyone think he gets a lot out of the talent he has? I'm not so sure he does. I'd say Greg Gard is a better get than Mike Cronin and Gard isn't going to come to Indiana. UCLA and Cincinnati are about as far from IU basketball as UNLV was during the 80s. Cronin simply won't be a good fit.

TJ Otzelberger- maybe. Maybe they offer him. His guys compete. He has a good record.

So you like McCasland over Golden?
Yes. Definitely.

Also, if Stevens and May are out, I'd throw the farm to land Beard.

My next few include McCasland as a high candidate but also I'd be calling Donovan, Tony Bennett, Jay Wright, and Randy Bennett.

If I can't get any of them, the TJ Otzel.

After that...I give up. Probably gamble on either DeVries or McCollum.

Quite possibly. Depends on the Administration at Florida and how they feel about the "strength" of said allegations.

The statements from the University were a bit cagey. Basically they said that he didn't violate Title IX.

"According to the letter, the Title IX coordinator determined there was no evidence to indicate that sexual harassment "occurred within a university program or activity," and that is why the school had to dismiss the complaint. The letter noted that the complaint was initiated after the university received an anonymous report that "named multiple potentially impacted persons."

So they seem to be saying he didn't violate Title IX (within a university program or activity). Hard to say, but the various reporting doesn't exactly clear him of sending d!ck pics, it just says it wasn't associated with official activities. Weird.

Correct that is the number one criteria first and foremost. Pure as the driven snow. I saw beard take down tenn last night and we are going to pass on him even though he would come.
Maybe after our next coach plateaus with a 0.500 conference record and with three or four more tournament bubble nail-biters we will look at him with a more open mind.

Not by me he's not. The only thing I know is what I read on here. I'm not judging the guy based on THAT information. Others probably are. That is why I agree with KKott. Look into his past (same with Golden) and find out the facts. If both are habitual creeps, the bread crumbs will be there to find.

So that sounds to me like Florida found the first cop-out reason NOT to investigate further (afraid of what they might find????) and swept it under the rug. Probably gave TG a real good talking to.

I personally like Brownell. I admit, he took a long time getting around to the level of success they have had the past two or so years. I think if I were seriously considering him, that is where the basis of my questioning would start: "What have you changed to achieve the success you have had recently and why do you think you didn't come to those conclusions years ago?" I like him b/c his teams pass the "eye test". At least recently they have.

I could go with TJO, absolutely.

I could go with McDermott.

I could really go with Billy Donovan but there doesn't seem to be much smoke around him this go-around.

The Bennets?? Meeeehhhhh.

Devries maybe a bit better candidate than McCullum or McCasland b/c he at least has a full year playing with the big boys.
