Why does Paul Finebaum hate Indiana ?

I had heard of Finebaum from message boards long before I ever watched him on ESPN, and I watch ESPN but just for events, and a couple talking head shows I liked.

FInally I thought 'hey, here's Finebaum, he's supposed to be good' and so instead of switching channels I watched for once. Ten minutes in I thought 'this is stupid, this guy has no information' . I tried a couple more times after that, same result, haven't watched him in a long time.

Finebaum's bread is buttered by the SEC, I assume that's why he feels compelled to trash Indiana. And he doesn't have to be close to right, he's playing to his audience.

Yes. he does favor SEC over B1G and doesn't think changing coaches at IU is still IUFB and doesn't recognize how IU played. They got screwed by putting them against ND instead of putting them in spot they should have been. No problem though, IU is getting better each year with the coaches we have now.

I understand the guy is an SEC shill but in this article he singles out Indiana as a team that would be under .500 in the SEC. Did Cig piss in his wheaties or something. Indiana still gets the most hate out of all the CFP teams. Cig has plenty of bulletin board material for the team this year.

Who cares what finebum thinks?

Dakich takes a lot of grief for some of his comments, as does Pat McAfee. But both of those guys played their sport at a high level.
What has that bat-eared goblin ever accomplished between the lines, that his opinion has any value whatsoever?

Much like the size of the universe, I am certain my mind will never be able to fully comprehend what the hell happened last season. That season was so far beyond what I thought was truly possible for us, let alone in year one.....it was beyond the best case scenario and I still can't quite wrap my head around it. I just found myself giggling in the 3rd quarter of games at the audacity of us running up scores on teams like Nebraska and Washington. Out of body experience is the only way to describe it.
Magical in virtually every way.

Lives in Birmingham. Went to Tennessee. Treated here like Dan Dakich i.e., no value.

Basically, an ESPN hack doing their national dirty work because SEC and ESPN are now dealing the loss of CFP control. Two B1G back-to-back. Got to be a villain, right? Indiana is the new kid. Easy to pick on the new kid. Better get used to us.

Any future B1G who goes 11-1 will be in. No further discussion. We got plenty of $$ and a guy who knows how to spend it.

Otherwise, SEC has to understand now that everyone can pay players, they don't have the $$ to own it anymore. South is poor. B1G country is not. Simple economics really. All about money. Go Hoosiers.

Nobody I've ever talked to thinks much of him around here. He went to Tennessee as I stated earlier. LMAO
Totally agree with you until your "the south is poor" tripe. Plenty of poor down there but Chicago and Detroit, etc are very full of poor people. I would look at the pure economic growth of some southern states and the population growth as opposed to ours up here. I lived down there for a long time (Georgia) and was happy to move back up to NW Indiana because so many 'northerners' moved down there.

Because IU is a threat and took a playoff spot from an SEC team. The top dogs in the sport don’t want new competition.

IU didn't take a playoff spot from an SEC team. 11-1 season featuring 9 B1G games, winning by an average of some 30 PPG, earns a playoff spot. Period. End of discussion.

Losing 25% of your games disqualifies your team. Period.

Bowl season solidified the CFP choices. They argued for Alabama, South Carolina and Ole Miss. Bama got rung up by one of the "bad" teams IU beat. Illinois, a B1G afterthought all season long, shook up USC (and their coach). Ole Miss? Yep, they won big in a bowl game. Against Duke. Had IU done that, we all would have heard how awful Duke was.

IU proved their mettle and earned their shot. Anyone who tries to say otherwise is wrong.
