If you look at our roster for next year, we have 3 starters returning (Galloway, Mgbako, Reneau). We have Tucker signed on to play the wing. We have Cupps and Leal returning - Cupps played starter minutes most of the season and Leal played some minutes here and there and made some big plays.
Knowing Woodson, Galloway, Tucker, Mgbako and Reneau are guaranteed starter minutes. That leaves 1 opening at guard for a portal player. And a bunch of bench openings.
So it really does come down to signing a starting guard, assuming Woodson hasn't already decided to roll with Cupps there.
Doesn't this mean we should seriously lower our expectations for what will happen in the portal from here on out? Unless you think Woodson will really "recruit over" his returning guys?
If you think Newtown will play significant minutes next year, you should lower your expectations even further.
