Wow I had not realized Kofi’s stock dropped so much. Shoulda went last year! Yinka Dare at best.

There are an endless number of bigs who came into the NBA with very limited stretch skills who blossomed into fine players. TJDs foundation including shot blocking, great footwork & hands, length, speed, quickness, jumping ability, and improving court vision give him a big upside. They see nice form and rotation on his free throws, so they believe he can develop his shooting. He may start in G league, but he has a good chance to make a nice living in the NBA.

Who would you take at #5 for the Pacers?

I wonder which of Ivey, Murray, and Johnny Davis will explode in the NBA....Ivey has speed while Murray is bigger and smooth. Davis seems to just have all around game. I would expect one or more to really fit the NBA well in a year that Big men were supposed to dominate the Big ten and excel at the draft. Thoughts?

You are really knowledgeable for a newcomer.

I think Murray will have the biggest impact given his size and athleticism along with ability to shoot the ball, but the game should open for Ivey without a prodding big man in the middle like he's accustom to playing with at Purdue. Ivey will need to find a mid-range game at some point.

Davis had a really strong year but feel like he struggled down the stretch. He's a high volume shooter and subsequently scores a lot of points but isn't a great 3 point shooter.

Watch Kofi come back again!

The b10 tournament certainly didn’t hurt TJD. There had to be scouts there. He was brilliant, and had great performances against Dickinson and Kofi.
Dickinson is a slow moving, stuck in the mud, non athletic slug. Despite his shooting potential, he will never see the nba. TJD has a much better chance in the NBA. Compare TJD to Isaiah Jackson of the Pacers. He can’t shoot, but was a 2nd round steal for the Pacers. TJD may be slightly less athletic and an inch shorter, but has better ball skills. Although Jackson is a better defender.

starting to wonder why Kofi and Hunter came back. It didn't do their draft status any favors. If anything they slid further down the list.
That is why there is zero chance TJD comes back. He at best would probably only improve his stock 10 spots and and the risk for falling further is to great. He is gone.

Agree that it'll be Murray. Ivey's main skill is blowing by slower college defenders and does so only going to the right, he's too loose with his dribble and crossover will get picked by NBA defenders, and while he has good range and a good 3 pointer percentage, his release is slow, his release point is low and too far forward, and he doesn't elevate.

Ivey will have a fine NBA career, but just won't match Murray

He will be a bargain for somebody.

What sealed Ivey as a first rounder was his improved shooting. He’s not there yet but he’s genuinely has become a must guard from three.

I don't believe Dickinson will go undrafted.

Your posts are surprisingly coherent and make logical sense when they’re not about IU.

Murray struggles to create his own shot in college. I would bet he scores most of his points off transition and offensive rebounds. He is a good athlete but won't be anything special in the NBA in that sense.

Ivey's current faults are mostly fixable with practice, that shot release probably not, but he can improve decision making and his handles.

Murray's game probably translates better longevity wise. I could see him playing exactly the same way he does now at 33.

May not quite be zero. But I agree it is very very low. Better hit the jackpot in the portal.

I still go back and forth about TJD’s true NBA potential, but I am pretty convinced that (sadly for IU) another year of college basketball probably wouldn’t do much to improve his chances.

Unless, that is, maybe CMW is secretly on the verge of recruiting someone who’s talented enough to make TJD think that signing him/them would make IU a legit NCAA contender next season if Trayce came back. Likely a “hyper-optimistic” scenario at this point.

I watched my first NBA game in years the other night Kofi simply does not fit. All the do is jack up three pointers and honestly I found it very boring. I will stick with watching college.

I would take Murray over Ivey all day

Trace up to 33rd on NBADRAFT.NET. They project him to go to Toronto.
I looked at the 2021 contracts for the 13 guys drafted 31st-43rd. One of them is a European that stayed overseas while another guy got a pretty crappy contract, 250k guaranteed. I didn’t look further to see if he was injured or if there were other circumstances impacting his signing.
The other 11 guys all got guaranteed money ranging from 2.5 million to over 4 million. First half of the second round pay has really increased over the years.
