It’s not safe for students to vote at the campus location. So the students should pile into a shuttle and go vote off campus. Right. As people have mentioned, UGA has a rather large outdoor athletic facility that would be great for a voting center.

Man I wish right wingers would put 1/10th of the vigor they project to protect 2A to protect the Constitutional right to vote.

They don't say, maybe the shuttle is a convertible and thus they are outdoors the entire time. Seriously, the spacing inside a shuttle can't be very good unless they are just taking one or two people at a time.

Hopefully other schools use this to negative recruit against Crean, lol.

Could easily have a voting site in UGA's basketball arena with plenty of space for people to be distanced.

The Twitter responses to the original announcement were brutal.

Correct and that’s how it’s supposed to work. Do something stupid, get called on it and fix it. That’s why the Trump Administration and the current GOP is so dangerous. They don’t play by those rules. Call them on the stupid and they say GFY.

How do you know the people responsible for this decision are “right wingers”?

They're the ones trying to suppress the vote, especially among the young and presumably more Democratically inclined.

So now it’s the right wanting to suppress indoor voting? Thought that was the left, clamoring for mail in ballots as indoor facilities just aren’t safe due to COVID?

I’m reading through this thread wondering what the hell is going on, thought everyone switched sides. But now I understand, the right doesn’t want you to vote indoor or by mail, makes perfect sense! 🤔

This is a terrible take. Some of us want all Americans to vote. Allowing a voting center on a college campus and also supporting vote by mail are not inconsistent. Indeed both encourage more voters.

Speaking of terrible takes, you start off this thread by making it political. I don’t see it as being political at all, left or right.
Color me surprised that a university campus would consider suspended voting stations due to COVID.

With all the start, stop at these campuses this somehow surprises you? Im struggling with your connection between UGA’s ruling and “right wingers”.

For what it’s worth, I completely agree with your take about shuttling students or their desire to justify football games. Your last comment, not sure, lost me.

1. Look up GOP efforts to ratf$ck campus voting in Florida and Texas. It’s a plan to prevent likely left leaning students from voting.

2. Look up GA Governor Kemp. He has a rich history of suppressing Democratic voters.

Local sovereignty.
You should have linked it to begin with in order to support your claim, specifically in how it relates to the GA governor suppressing dem votes on college campuses which is germane to this discussion.
I got it now though, your last post has made it clear.

Usually I can wrap my head around most Democratic mythologies.

The fact that anyone believes this voter suppression nonsense makes me weep for America.

GOP reps in NC divided the largest HBCU (NC A&T) into two separate Congressional Districts. That's like dividing IU at the Union, except Carolina A&T has about 20,000 less students...

"Students at NC A&T State University, the nation’s largest historically black college or university, recently spoke out against new congressional voting maps that leave their campus split into two districts.

Last month, a federal court ruled that Republican lawmakers had racially gerrymandered two of the state’s 13 congressional districts and ordered lawmakers to redraw those district lines. Legislative leaders responded with some dramatic changes to North Carolina’s congressional maps and openly declared that their chief aim was to craft districts that would favor their own party.

“I acknowledge freely that this would be a political gerrymander, which is not against the law,” Rep. David Lewis (R-Harnett) told the redistricting committee that he co-chairs.

While Republican legislators claim that race played no part in this latest round of redistricting, the new maps divide NC A&T’s campus of over 10,000 students – a majority of whom are African-American – into the 6th or 13th districts. According to the students that spoke out last week, the split could dilute the voting power of the campus community and cause Election Day confusion at the polls.

“With this university being split into two congressional districts, it undermines and diminishes its political influence and its lobbying power,” said Aleecia Sutton, a student at NC A&T State University and a Democracy Fellow with Common Cause North Carolina."

Not only blatant voter suppression, but vote nullification thrown in as a "bonus"...

"Nhawndie Smith said dividing the campus could discourage her fellow A&T students from casting a ballot. “How can I vote knowing that my vote won’t even have power?” Smith said."

Mission Accomplished...

You came to the wrong board if you're looking for common sense, this board is now what we like to call a "liberal haven" of #OrangeManBad and #republicansare evil.

We only accept feelings here, not facts. It would be funny if it weren't so sad, nah it is still funny.

What's even funnier is that Trump will still win Indiana in a landslide.

Stop weeping and pay attention. You’ve been living under a rock if you don’t think there has been a significant amount of voter suppression. One party wants as many people as possible and are eligible to vote. Another party thinks it’s ok to make it difficult to vote.

Doesn’t say much for the state of Indiana, does it? And you think it’s the liberals that can’t accept facts? I’m thinking it’s the Trumpsters who still believe in Trump, even though he lies to them each and every day.

What "facts" can't Trump voters accept?

Oh gosh where should I begin?
Climate change
Covid
Trump is corrupt
Trump is a liar
Trump is inept
Want more?
That he openly courts white supremacists. Well, some of you anyway. Some see it as a plus. Yucky af.
Exactly the types of answers I expected when asking that question. Ask for facts from Democrats and you get more feelings. It's clockwork.

I couldn't care less what you think about Trump as I don't like him all that much either. That said, I'll take his policies all day over dementia Joe and the left wing clown show.

Bottom line, the modern Democratic party supports abortion, defunding the police, socialism, raising taxes, rioting, destroying cities ect...

I don't, so I'll vote accordingly.

Says the commie who roots for a state-funded school.

man, I can never get one of you guys to address the white nationalist thing. Never.

But to not know simple, objective facts takes a willing buyer. They enter these disinformation bubbles and never leave. Type “GOP voter suppression tactics” and you can find countless articles highlighting just that. So the information is out there. If the consumer wants to find it. As we see in this board, ignorance is an active mode.

Seeing the success of right wing disinformation is sobering.
Imagine if you and your leftist cohorts possessed any objectivity & were able to see that it exists on both sides, even more sobering to see it inflicts both sides...

Just the idea of disinformation. I’m not sure the board knows just how uninformed our electorate is. We’re woke now but uninformed. Google millennials and holocaust. That’s sobering

Of your opinions? Do you not know the difference between opinion and fact?
I do, as a matter of fact. Every single one of those is easily proven. Which one would you like me to give you research on? If you’d take a moment to read or watch real news, you’d know that too. Started Woodward’s book yet? Hard to pass that one off, since the moron let himself be taped.

You pretend to want facts and you post that ish. What are your news sources, besides listening to Trump rant and rave? That’s just all total nonsense. And it’s scary how many people are so easily brainwashed by Fox, Trump, Oan, Rush, or whatever your source is.

What is it that you think leftists believe that is not true?
