Grosse Pointe is a very wealthy city/area in Detroit. The name Grosse Pointe is French and means big tip or big point, as the area juts out in Lake St. Clair. (Detroit was largely settled by the French. In fact, the name Détroit is also French for strait.)

Thanks. We'll do some travel back this way because my dad and sisters live in Louisville area, plus I intend to do the Indy 500 weekend with my college buddies and families and probably continue the Myrtle Beach golf trip in the fall.
