Trumpcession

As usual, Trump lied
As usual, you bought it

Canada only has a tariff on USA goods if an agreed upon threshold of US imports is exceeded. which never happens.

In many categories, notably including milk, the US is rarely at even half of the zero-tariff maximum.

“In practice, these tariffs are not actually paid by anyone,” Al Mussell, an expert on Canadian agricultural trade...

Trump also made a claim that is simply false. He told reporters Friday that the situation with Canadian dairy tariffs was “well taken care of” at the time his first presidency ended, “but under Biden, they just kept raising it.”

In reality, Canada did not raise its dairy tariffs under then-President Joe Biden, as official Canadian documents show and industry groups on both sides of the border confirmed to CNN. The tariffs Trump was denouncing Friday were left in place by the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, or USMCA, which Trump negotiated, signed in 2018 and has since touted as “the best trade deal ever made.”

The White House did not respond to CNN’s Friday request for comment.

It amazes me how gullible many people on this board are, lapping-up everything that comes out of Trump's mouth.

And, more broadly, I find it hilarious that MAGA's suddenly are all in on electric cars when a year ago they were the devil's spawn.

I wouldn’t take a free EV unless I could trade it for a 1969 Chevelle SS 396 or a 1967 GTO. Maybe a 1969 Mustang Boss 429.

EVs - pffffffffffft.

Oh, and cats are the Devil’s spawn.

Yeah I don’t know any magas who want electric cars
I want all businesses to be successful. A booming economy and all that. But let the market decide and not some stupid government largesse. How many billions are the car manufacturers losing on this unicorn hunt for the perfect EV?

He might buy one. Maga doesn’t want electric anything. From cars to chainsaws. I drive through that country fairly often. Hatred of woke is the only thing they have in common in Musk. They want big gas guzzling trucks
I have a gas and electric chainsaw. Most times my go to is the electric. It can handle most big jobs. By the time I go through the second battery, my white collar ass is tired.

Unless you are running the gas ones frequently, starting them each and every time can be a pain, even when using the special TruFuel.

I don’t know that MAGAs are all in on EVs. None here have copped to having one.

Chief White Ogre is manic impulsive. His conundrum is how to do 100 impulsive things a day when the POTUS only has a handful of executive options. Tariffs are coded right there in the US Constitution so it’s his default action. This explains why he’s slamming so many countries and why he changes his mind.

Also explains why he’s Texas Chainsaw Massacring the Executive Branch. So many people there to be fired. So many bills to not pay. So many budgets to cut.

Then there’s Volodymyr. Ajajaj. Poor Ogrelich. The Nobel was right there on a silver platter but he couldn’t resist the urge to roller coaster the process…

Life was so much easier when all he had to do was place lollipop turds on the tongues of his adoring worshipers at his rallies and tweet sweet nothings into their ears all night.

Is that what you drove over to JD’s neighborhood to harass him and his 3-year-old daughter?
No. I drove my BMW. Honked the horn a lot.

And that MF'er completely shut down Columbia Parkway Monday morning just so he could go back to DC. Shut it down at Delta in the middle of rush hour.

Well, hell, just stop at The Precinct, man. Take advantage of the opportunity. A fine steak and some bourbon. Lemonade out of lemons.

Ummm, not that Trump breaking rules / the law is anything new, but doesn't bragging about buying a tesla and tweeting to encourage others to buy one go against that whole government ethics rule that says that members of the executive branch can not endorse products?

"The United States Office of Government Ethics rule on "Endorsing Organizations, Products or Persons" states that "Executive branch employees may not use their Government positions to suggest that the agency or any part of the executive branch endorses an organization (including a nonprofit organization), product, service, or person."

I don’t think it’s against the rules because those kinds of rules don’t apply to POTUS I don’t think.

I also don’t think it’s necessarily unprecedented because politicians are always celebrating buying American or different companies, even if not quite as directly as he did with Tesla.

From a practical perspective, I’d think it’s more counterproductive to have a POTUS specifically endorsing your product because it becomes a politicized product, which is not something most companies would want.

Agree 100 percent with all of this, but especially the last part. Musk has really hampered Tesla moving forward. Obviously the company is not going away or anything, but growth potential has been greatly reduced.
