Trump’s SCOTUS nominees were milquetoast, Federalist society hacks. A major disappointment.
Republicans have yet to realize the zero sum game Democrat’s are playing with these appointments. Progressive banshee woman after progressive banshee woman who will never rule against Democratic party interests when they hear a case that has major political ramifications.

But even if you were right, the votes wouldn’t have been there. They were barely there for Kavanaugh - and he’s probably the most moderate of Trump’s 3 nominees.
Trump was fortunate as hell to get 3 nominations in a single term. And I thought he did very well on all 3. I’m particularly fond of Neil Gorsuch.
That said, I don’t disagree with your characterization of Democratic nominees.
There’s virtually never a single surprise vote coming from those 3 - or the likes of Breyer or Ginsburg before them. Each one of their votes, and their reasoning, is utterly predictable.
Kavanaugh struggled because of other BS. Barrett will end up being the most moderate. She’s destined to go the way of Sandra Day and be a completely unreliable Conservative vote.

She’s said on multiple occasions that her judicial philosophy is drawn from Scalian originalism. She clerked for Scalia.
Assuming she means that, originalists don’t often veer into some other jurisprudential lane.

For nearly 70% of Church going Ukrainian- who identify as Orthodox- Zelenskiy's actions have amounted to nothing less than a wholesale ban on their Christisn faith.
The severity of Zelenskiy's crackdown cannot be overstated. In a concerted campaign, dozens of revered monasteries and churches were violently raided by the Ukrainian Security Service, The SBU.
Among the most egregious was the raid upon the Kiev Monastery of the Caves, founded in 1051 AD. This iconic site is one of Eastern Europe's most revered and ancient sites, steeped in profound religious, historical, and cultural significance and serving as a beacon for Orthodoxy for nearly a millennium. Clergy who had faithfully ministered there for decades were forcibly expelled, their spiritual leadership abruptly terminated. Additionally numerous Priests faced severe persecution, with many arrested under accusations of collaboration with Russian interests or
promoting subversion. Some of these Priests remain imprisoned facing trials believers see as politically motivated, reflecting a pattern of religious persecution.
Others were forced into exile, fleeing intense scrutiny and societal hostility fueled by the Regime's campaign. Thousands more clergy face immense pressure to abandon their spiritual heritage and join with the newly formed Orthodox Church of Ukraine, an entity comparable to L. Ron Hubbard's Church of Scientology , constructed as a politically expedient devoid of legitimate Apostolic authority.
As a secular jew, Zelenskiy and his minions revel in the schism their cruel persecution has wrought upon the Orthodox congregations of Ukraine and it's faithful.
So-called Christians who continue to support this regime and it's attack upon the oldest form of Apostolic ideology should be excoriated and shamed.

I totally agree. Pretty much anything that protects Ukraine going forward is all I want. Z has offered to step down, if that is needed we can require that. I just don't want Russia to reload for 5 years and come back
It might be we keep sanctions on for 5 years which should slow their rebuild. But that would not fit the idea we are recruiting Russia against China.
Given Russian and China's disdain for human rights, I don't know how we overcome that to get them to align with us decadent westerners.
Doc I don't know who you were in a previous posting life, but you should probably know that you are spending a lot of energy debating a guy who is an actual Nazi. You're never going to win this one.
So how is this a loss for the US. We will no longer be sending billions of dollars to Ukraine. The Europeans will be sending their money and weapons to Ukraine or will be ending the war. NATO is not going to throw the US out because lets be serious Europe does not have the ability to defend itself from China or even still Russia even after their military has been depleted. Ukraine is going to have to surrender part of their minerals to either us or Europe. They would be smarter to do so to the US.
Please explain how we are siding with Putin? We quit sending money to Ukraine. We try to end this war before the psycho in Moscow gets desperate and decides to start using nukes and starts WW3. If the war does end and we get the mineral rights we are seeking, some of them are in areas that are occupied by Russia so they will have to withdraw. We have a stake now in Ukraine and Putin has already shown he doesn't really want to toe toe with the US.
