You think the media manufactured all those quotes from water management officials and farmers saying this was a stupid decision and done with virtually no warning or coordination with local officials? I get not trusting the media, but in this case, you have to assume that the story is entirely fabricated to not at least tentatively agree this was probably incredibly dumb. And we know the story wasn't entirely fabricated, because Trump himself bragged about the water release on social media.

So, let me just point out that the Romans designed aqueducts that could provide water into a river valley at one altitude and transmit water to the other side of the valley at a higher altitude by using a smaller diameter of aqueduct on the far side of the valley plus a closed (think almost "sealed") conduit on the far side. Kinda like the way capillaries work.

I read the links. The release was sudden and without following any of the normal protocols accompanying a release of water. The manner and means of release is not part of the EO. We should expect the Army Corps to be professional in carrying out the EO. There is no other explanation.

It wouldn't, but I think the question would be whether the EO required any release at all.
Again, the fact that Trump publicly celebrated this release kind of puts the hammer to this line of defense, but CO.H will grasp any straw he can.
My money would be on that the ACE ****ed up. Not purposely though. Trump threw out this EO insanely fast and with zero thought or direction. The ACEs probably freaked out about people in other agencies getting shit canned for not immediately bending the knee. They made hasty and poor decisions and here we are. Bad leadership.
There's also probably some tranny in the ACE that will get randomly blamed.

The wisdom of the release is a different issue from the manner of the release. Trump had nothing to do with the latter.
The very fact of the release was not wise. There was no manner in which it could be done to make it wise. He celebrated and bragged about a dumb decision. Even if you don't blame him for the manner in which it was carried out, the decision itself - on him - was a failure.
