CFB is top heavy. We already knew that. There are only a handful of teams that are elite. That number is less than 12. It's probably half that. Arguing for strength of schedule or some 3-loss SEC Team doesn't change that.

Again I go back to the absurd idea that if you aren't one of the elite five or six teams you are 'nobody'. Dumb stupid take propagated by sports media that pander to the lowest common denominator. McDonough put forth this clownish view last night.
Part of the argument for Playoff expansion was that it would hopefully increase the number of teams who truly have a chance year in and year out. That it would widen the net so-to-speak. Obviously in this first year we haven't seen that yet.
Anyway it's just super irritating listening to this same dumb crap every year. Being the case and point for the dupes who argue this way just makes it worse.

I encourage people to revisit the CFP semi-final histories when it was 4 teams. One can make an argument every year that there are teams that “don’t belong.” Look at some of these scores.

Maybe the outcomes are the same, but the games would likely be closer if played on neutral warm weather or dome sites. This home field advantage thing is a joke.

I think the home field is a pretty strong advantage. We'll see how this goes for a couple years...if away teams never get close, maybe they try and utilize some other "neutral" sites...even if it's not a traditional bowl?

IU and SMU don't have the 4 and 5 star talent. Clemson and Tennessee do. But so far, that talent hasn’t helped Clemson. We'll see if it helps TN. If OSU wins big, then maybe the committee needs to re-think the campus games, as much as I like them. Or keep the campus games, but rank on merit vs conference.

If You expand it (leaving aside the logistics of how many games you would have to play to get to a Champion), You will be where We are with the NCAA Basketball Tournament. no matter how far You expand the field, each year You will have a hand full of teams upset because They are left out with a laundry list of reasons of why They should be included.
