Peter Jackson's documentary on WW1 aired today and again on the 27th. It features original WW1 footage, restored, colorized, and mostly in 3-D. The voiceover are from interviews with WW1 survivors.

This is not a documentary on big picture, no dates, no strategy, no generals or politicians. It presents life as it was for the ordinary soldier. The video is mostly awesome though sometimes an uncanny valley appears.

After the movie, Jackson details how they made the movie. Stay for it, it is worth it.

All in all, very well done. Our theater sold out and they turned away people. If you like history, go see it. No startling revelations, but the focus on the little guy makes it unique.
