Meet me. I'm a man who wasn't required to pay child support. And I split custody 50/50. And my ex and I made almost exactly the same amount of money. It was agreed that neither of us wouldn't pay child support, dip into each other's retirement, investments, etc. And I make what most would consider a good salary.
