The DOGE Clown Show

Like I said. They better go fast. People care most about prices and they’re going to be largely sterilized in 26 and out in 28 if they don’t figure that out. Tariffs will only make it worse
I think they have until 28 to get things rolling. Also, prices aren't coming down, unless you're on a Bitcoin standard. The system is designed to steal from people. They do need to get wages up. Cutting government waste and lowering taxes will help with that. I agree they need to go fast.

Again, look at the total numbers (we ain't DEI, you ain't allowed to use "black men" anymore so I have been told). Overall rich people are audited more than poor. Poor more than the middle class because of EITC.
Yea but poor aren’t paying taxes on individual income. You can back most of that out. Look K1s etc. and again 7 percent of single black men.

Add agents as stoll confirmed they’re going after small business. Low hanging fruit. They don’t have the acumen to jump in at Boeing

But it ain't Boeing that's cheating their taxes and what taxes they are cheating was agreed to in advance or part of generally accepted accounting practices. I assume the majority of tax fraud at a corporate level are those businesses operating in the middle of the spectrum relative to value.

Same principle but we're either going to make them pay or just let them cheat. Firing 6k IRS employees doesn't do much except the latter.

No as @stollcpa will confirm you add 80,000 people regardless of what representations are made micro and small businesses are who will be targeted and fckd with. They are the lowest hanging fruit. Those new hires aren’t going after billionaires and multi millionaires with teams of lawyers to fight back. They don’t have the requisite ability. They’re going after Jose’s two taco trucks.

We have to have enforcement otherwise how do we raise revenue. But the target of the vast majority of agents are hard working people. That’s reality

At any rate. None of this matters. I just got back from an early grocery store run loading up for the weekend. Prices are absurd. This will be what gives rise to the blue wave in 26. People wanted prices lowered and we aren’t hearing anything about it
You have to buy pads for your wife too when you hit the grocery? As horrible as it is, just remember one day we might be trading those in for depends.

My point is fwd looking. Marv’s people making $35k is of no moment. The new hires despite representations to the contrary will not be going after centene. Nor will they be going after the county court clerk on a W2 making $41k. They will be going after Queen Alterations in between. Run by a 65 year old Jamaican who will insult you as she works but do same day turn arounds. If we want six thousand agents hassling the Queen so be it. I don’t. And I don’t presume they’re cheats. But as stoll will corroborate she’ll have to pay out the ass to stoll and suffer a hell of an interruption

Then build software to do it. Better software. Have something in your backpocket besides lint.

I listed the likelihood of being audited by income. People who pay the most are the most likely to be audited.

But, let's play your game. Let's fire the people who look for fraud and see how much revenue comes in and how much EITC goes out. You think it will get better if no one looks for fraud?

Are you of the belief that small businesses can't do fraud?

Here is a person that owned 3 restaurants. Not a huge business:

I found it looking for the El Rodeo restaurants in Indy that were caught. They were caught because a customer noticed if one paid by cash they calculated your payment with a calculator and use an open cash drawer for change. In other words, the system never saw the cash come in.

So yes, catch whatever fraud there is. If it gets to the point of speeding laws, no one will be paying taxes but the few of us who are honest and the deficit will be worse.

You listed individuals. Of course the co clerk making $41k on a w 2 isn’t audited. Plus you’re looking backwards. I told you forward who would be the targets: small businesses. Like your el rodeo. And how many other small businesses had accts frozen and all the other bs only to prevail in the end so El rodeo can be caught.

I just want honesty. If that’s what we want to do. Fine. But don’t lie like Biden and pretend all those new hires are going after billionaires. They don’t have the skills. They’re going after low hanging fruit. Queen B alterations.

Again, people in the highest income have the highest odds of being audited. Wasn't it like 4% of them being audited. But the president, as head of the executive branch, has the power to change priorities. He could order treasury to focus on rich people. Between 1-3% of small businesses are audited. So that is still below the chances of a millionaire. But there are more small businesses, so more businesses are audited though small business individual odds are worse.

I know people in many service fields that are cash-only. It makes sense, it is pretty easy to cheat with cash only. So if you get tips and take cash only, it is pretty easy to hide some of the tips. I don't have a problem with them running a risk of getting audited. But if we want to focus higher up the food chain, the prez can do that. Note that Trump has said for 8 years he is being audited. So what does that say about rich people being audited or wanting to focus up the food chain?

Watched an extremely interesting guest appearance on C-Span by Paul Dans who was the director of the Heritage Foundation 2025 Project.

In listening to Dans it became clear to me that the main thrust of DOGE is to dismantle the leftist federal bureaucracy, which in the view of people such as Dans has become the fourth branch of government, thus altering the three-branch government of checks and balances established under our constitution.

Thus, it isn't a power grab by the executive branch. It is a planned program to restore government as envisioned by the Founders.

Feel free to show the math, twenty. They've added thousands (I read 20k, but can't find an exact number) of IRS agents under Biden. What was the 600b as a percentage in 2021? What is the percentage now? I'll agree with you if the math adds up. I'm not fine with some dopey person's projections that are rarely correct.

Trump I don’t believe is representative of anything. I agree with much of what you write. My primary point is the mass of new hires will target low hanging fruit irrespective of what reps are made. That’s small and micro biz

IRS has been short staffed for decades. I think they had just gotten back to the staffing levels that they had in 2000. But that's clearly a temporary bump as it'll be going back down again. It's budget had been cut for years prior to 2021. And the funding bump they saw from the IRA was quickly reduced once the GOP was back in control of the House.

It had been estimated the underground economy (cash and barter) is equivalent to about 25% of the official GDP.

I justified my cheating on federal and state income tax returns when running small businesses by telling myself "everyone does it". Faced several IRS audits and passed with flying colors.
