Thank you Biden for lowering gas prices.

The Keystone pipeline has not been closed off.

(ht to Aloha)
No, the construction was shut down and the Canadians walked away from it because Biden's executive order killed it. You're right it wasn't closed off, but it was because it wasn't completed. In addition the Feds are not issuing the permits that would allow drillers to take advantage of the leases they own to drill and the Biden admin drastically reduced the availability of land on which to lease/drill. Not to mention fracking shutdowns. So the US, a net exporter the last couple of years under Trump now begs the most repressive, autocratic and corrupt nations for oil that could be provided domestically. Even more disgusting is his raiding or the strategic oil reserves to do nothing other than temporarily reduce the price of gasoline to benefit democrats running for reelection. His admin's policies relative to energy won't, as they wrongly tell us, lead the nation into some "green utopis, it will lead us back to the early 1800's. Those are the facts. Just watch how Germany gets along this winter without much natural gas, oftentimes a natural bi-product of the oil drilling process, to heat their homes. They're buying firewood (that's not very "green" is it).

It will go up a lot from there. OPEC+ just removed 2 million barrels a day telling Biden FU. Only question is whether it hits the pump prices before the election (I suspect it will) and how much it will hurt. Plus, the impact will be highly inflationary, so there's that to look forward to also.

Elections, unfortunately sometimes, have consequences that are much worse than mean tweets.

OPEC's behavior confuses me. They are taking advantage of inflation, but for what? A collapse in demand like they saw in 2009-2010 for the many years after? Seems stupid.

Desantis "I am against federal aid to help those effected by hurricane sandy.....oh crap..well florida wants aid now after ian"

Republicans...against federal aid for anyone else but extremely in favor when they need it.
Oh I knew this would trigger a far left wing Hickory. Just think Hickory you get four more years of Desantis it should make for some good 1 am drunken rages you are known for on the bbal board.

Not really, they see the the inflation creating a recession during which demand for oil is significantly reduced thereby lowering the price per barrel. They are just trying to keep the price per barrell where it is today or higher. I suspect the petro-economists have already factored in the impact of the recession and worsening economic picture and figure that they do do not contribute enough to a fall in demand to preclude lower supply. These guys are not stupid, they know they'll still sell the supply they've projected after the 2 million barrell/day reduction and the price per barrell will either stay at where it is today or ultimately fall to a range they can live with.

Absent significant supply increases from sources outside OPEC+ they fix the price. They are pretty much a monopoly and they fear no one.

Just as a point of historical reference the oil embargo of 1974 was resolved because the sheiks feared Nixon might invade their countries and take the oil fields. They thought he was crazy enough to do it and would. They see Biden as weak and stupid, probably even worse I suspect they laugh at him and the US, because he doesn't simply ratchet up domestic oil production. To them that is the most obvious solution to his domestic political problems.

The Sandy bill was a piece of garbage bill that spent a lot of money not for Sandy relief. That was why DeSantis voted against it. Rubio did too. Can you imagine any Florida politician of either party voting against hurricane relief? You would have to be incredibly stupid and neith DeSantis nor Rubio are stupid. Do your homework. They weren't against hurricane relief, they were against unnecessary pork spending to support friends of legislators who then donated money to those legislators campaigns. Why do you insist on showing people your lack of intelligence or knowledge?

I'm on the threads a lot, just not here. I just see so much lack of knowledge. I think there has been much more pointed stuff here.

You think it's possible they are doing it to stick it to Biden after the way he's treated them. They're smart enough to know that it will cause the price to go up and that will cost Democrats votes.

I barely post on bball board. Facts are hard for you.

Well, sure.

But, I don't care who's president, we aren't invading Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, or anywhere else in the ME.

This is correct, but let them have their talking point.

Even if what they were saying was true. I don’t think it is incumbent among members of congress to pass every pork filled crap bill that has some sliver of agreed upon value within it.

How principled of them. I supposed they won't accept any campaign donations from the numerous construction or otherwise affiliated hurricane clean up/rebuild type companies set to receive massive amounts of federal dollars right?

Shirley, you jest.
