Hot damn. Alright, that’s it, I’m booking a long weekend at a beach for Memorial Day. Where can I go to see those asses in the lower 48?

Can't go wrong with about any beach in FL. Personally, I like the Panhandle/Pensacola/Destin area... pretty relaxed, fits my tempo.

I don’t think I’ve ever been to the panhandle unless it was drunk on SB at some point. What’s your favorite place where I could rent a house on the ocean?

I like Destin area the best. Gorgeous beaches, laid back Allman Bros vibe (some would say rednecky... but I"m from IN, so, yeah!), and great fishing. Anything in that area (Ft Walton, Miramar Beach, etc...) I think would be good. If you want more upscale Try some of the area around Tampa Bay: Clear Water, St Petes, Sarasota, Venice... Probably more to do down in that area.

One of the reasons I liked Destin area is I was down there with a buddy and it must've been spring break in AL. There was a little bar on the beach and the owner was a genius. He put up a huge Auburn banner on one side and Bama on the other and the college kids, and many gorgeous coeds among them, camped under their appropriate banner. That might have influenced my opinion. Never seen so many chicks who could throw a perfect spiral. They must teach that in AL like we teach shooting in IN.

PS, I thought about what you said and I thought of a place I really liked a lot: Anna Maria Island near Tampa. Also super chill (in fact the little place we rented supposedly had been built by, or rented very early by one of the Allman Bros) and I liked it because we could bike around the whole island. Bear in mind, I'm 56 and this was when I was married, so this place is not about night life, although I'm sure there are bars, but just a great chill place to hang. I'd go back in a heartbeat to any of the above, but you'll need to balance it if you do want to go out; the places I listed aren't Vegas!

It's hard to rent a house on the beach on the Atlantic side, south of Ft. Pierce anyway, since oceanfront development has long been limited due to light pollution affecting sea turtle nesting behavior. But the lack of said development makes the beaches much, much nicer. You just have to drive there, and parking in almost all places is free and plentiful. You only pay to park right in Ft. Lauderdale and in much of the Miami area. Those are crowded beaches that you don't want to go to, anyway. I much prefer Juno beach, Jupiter, Jupiter island, and Hobe Sound.

Laid back? Have you been there lately? It’s like Castleton in December.
