Yep . We were turned down by a whole bunch of people.
myles & co. wonYep . We were turned down by a whole bunch of people.
LMAO .. a lot of words that can simply be summed up as .. HE SUCKS!
McCollum did well this year. But he would be a long shot to match DD 6 year record at Drake. And McCollum inherited a strong program while DD dod not. He's OK. I can get behind him.
But my guess is if Iowa hires the Drake guy who exceeded our guy's record in just one year ... Dang.
Oh well. Done is done.
Now we get into the spin cycle.
Iowa will most likely hire Brad Stevens 😭🤣He's OK. I can get behind him.

No, Whitten is no academician like Brand was. She’s actually a big sports fan. The Brand people have been gone for decades, so it’s either just be a bad choice or nobody else wanted it. We’ll see.myles & co. won
accept it
Stop. No explanation for this hire other than everyone else turned us down.McCollum did well this year. But he would be a long shot to match DD 6 year record at Drake. And McCollum inherited a strong program while DD dod not.
Exactly. When Scott called, everyone else went "click".Stop. No explanation for this hire other than everyone else turned us down.

You spent the better part of this year defending Woodson and telling everyone they were “dumb” for not seeing all of the intricacies that Woody had to deal with.LMAO .. a lot of words that can simply be summed up as .. HE SUCKS!
Why though?Stop. No explanation for this hire other than everyone else turned us down.

Or UK for that matter.I'm willing to give the guy a chance...not splashy for sure. But honestly, better than Brownell. Let's face it, we're at the point as a program we need some luck. I can't think of any other established coach (Pearl, Beard, etc) that would come here. Perhaps I'm just optimistic we won't have to see Woody's confused state next year.
No, he doesn't. In fact.....none of the candidates discussed reminds me of Miller....except Miller.Does this hire remind anyone of the Archie Miller hire to anyone? Kinda eerily similar, hope it ends up totally different though!
I think Ryan had more expectations on the hire...he was a "sure thing home run hire". I'm personally more excited about this hire...but that's just the apathy bleeding through lol.Does this hire remind anyone of the Archie Miller hire to anyone? Its an arms race.....unless and until the NCAA is overhauled and the system is regulated. It’s clear that IU promised DeVries more NIL money than West Virginia was offering.
Many were really excited about the CAM hire also, until the 1st game was played! I dont know much about CDD,…anyone care to explain what type of x’s and o’s he runs or how his teams Defenses have been?I think Ryan had more expectations on the hire...he was a "sure thing home run hire". Yep. The Cignetti hire was way more exciting than this. But that guy has unique charisma and ability.Just read the tweets. Double Meh.
This reminds me of settling because none of their primary targets were interested. No, he doesn't. In fact.....none of the candidates discussed reminds me of Miller....except Miller.
IU hasn't been relevant for two decades....There is a reason the "big"names have passed on IU....over and over. Even NIL money didn't change that. But this guy isn't chump change. DeVries can coach...he has already. There is going to be a gamble in the hire....even so with my first choice....McCollum. But....DeVries has the chops.....and now he has the opportunity. I think all things considered....its a good hire. This reminds me of settling because none of their primary targets were interested.
I’m not going to argue the point; you may (or may not be right). IU settled for certain. Let’s hope they prove me wrong in spades.IU hasn't been relevant for two decades....There is a reason the "big"names have passed on IU....over and over. Even NIL money didn't change that. And here we have in a public forum a significant reason why he is here. The unedited version: After being rejected by eight other coaches, we are thrilled….
Yep. The Cignetti hire was way more exciting than this. But that guy has unique charisma and ability.
I was disappointed in the last three hires at IU....and that disappointment wasn't contradicted. I'm not disappointed in this hire....especially since the program after the last three hires....if it were a person, would be Al Bundy. I'm optimistic for a change. In all fairness, IU fans knew as much at the time about Cignetti as they do Devries. There was plenty of criticism. Most couldn’t pick out James Madison on a map. They said he was naive thinking he would win with his transfers. Hindsight is 20/20.
I bet Devries changes the culture here and will get the guys needed to fit that culture.
No. Arch had to be talked into coming here. Thought he would not have to work so hard to get recruits. This guy will work his a*& offDoes this hire remind anyone of the Archie Miller hire to anyone? Kinda eerily similar, hope it ends up totally different though!
Kinda like West Point.Extensive D1 coaching experience? Cut me a break. How about modest lower level D1 head coaching experience.
Short man syndrome. Litttle push-pop motherf*****s with attitudes and egos that weigh more than their body.No.
Archie was 4’9” tall and had the personality of a doorknob.
Fans were tired of seeing 4-5* guys here that didn’t give a shit. You won’t see that from this guy. He’s the selection. Not my first choice but I think the guy is smart and is going to finally get us back to lunchpail style basketball. I’ll get behind him.
