read the descriptions of DD's personality in the flame thread. I'm guessing he doesn't have charisma to do that, and on such short notice, it might be hard to get a decent turnout. If he doesn't have much charisma, probably easier to do a standard PC and not risk bad optics.Looks like the press conference is today at 11:30.
Why not do what UK did and fill the GYM?
DeVries will be alot better than Pope. Screenshot this.Looks like the press conference is today at 11:30.

Listened to him for about 2 minutes so far and he has much better presence and personality than Archie. He's not Pope in that regard, but Pope is exceptional I think. Sounds fine, not a detriment imo.Looks like the press conference is today at 11:30.

Just didDeVries will be alot better than Pope. Screenshot this. And I think Pope will be solid to good.
Roster construction is every thing.Dude killed it when it got to basketball, roster construction, and recruiting. He gets it boys. We finally have a coach.
Take a listen if you can.
I am certainly glad woodson is gone that was the worst hire in IU history. Whether or not this guy is huge winner here I do not know but I at least think he will work much harder than woodson ever did.Roster construction is every thing.
Because 85 pct of college teams run the same thing.Hell it's basically the same in the NBA.
To many IU fans already doom and gloom..
Best of luck coach !!
Again, pinning expectations on him to get Mullins or Haralson, is not realistic. He'll make the call, but those ships have sailed and it would be up to them to reverse course. I do think if he'd been here this past year, one or both would be Hoosiers. As someone else said, when it got to bball, roster construction, style of play, he relaxed and was very good.I'd like to see DeVries, Hansberry, Harris and Powell come with him. Of he could bring Odih from his 25 class as well. Sisley and Goode that's not a bad start.
If he wants to really get momentum flip Mullins.
They're both signed. He can't make the call or even talk about them. They'd both have to make the move on their side to flip.Again, pinning expectations on him to get Mullins or Haralson, is not realistic. It's spring break. Nobody is on campus.Looks like the press conference is today at 11:30.

Archie had the personality of a rockListened to him for about 2 minutes so far and he has much better presence and personality than Archie. He's not Pope in that regard, but Pope is exceptional I think. Sounds fine, not a detriment imo.
Yep. I was excited about Archie initially. I was willing to give Woodson the benefit of the doubt because he was a great player and he played for Knight. Lessons learned. Then I saw the Cignetti transformation. Just win.Talk is cheap. Time to work the portal and build a contender.
That’s damn insulting.Archie had the personality of a rock
Tucker DeVries was wearing an IU hoodie at the press conference. Also, he has a 16 year old daughter. Maybe an earlier thread about letting the teenage daughter decide was DeVries not Stevens.I'd like to see DeVries, Hansberry, Harris and Powell come with him. Was Woodson running 3 hours practices? That's crazy. This is not just 'talk' from Devries. He coaches and believes so similarly to Coach Cig that I have to believe Coach DeVries knows what he's doing on a similar level.
He even used the exact same phrase as Cig "the standard is the standard" for the players in roster construction and their buyin and their work and his work. (!!) Said follow the process doing all the small things at a high level and the winning takes care of itself.
Then he sounded the same when he said he doesn't run three hour practices he runs 90 minute ones, 70 minutes during the season ... Going full out, because he believes the players learn quicker that way and then, IN THE GAME, making decisions quickly is something they've already faced.
Pretty much exactly what Cig says about you don't feel the pressure when you practice that way, the game feels much the same even when it's the fourth quarter.
Like this coach a lot. Great hire! Hope he wins of course...But great hire.
,
In his defense, it takes a lot of work to get over a hump of that magnitude. Was Woodson running 3 hours practices? That's crazy.
Did not know he could go that long without a nap.Was Woodson running 3 hours practices? That's crazy.
We are still waiting on Stevens daughter to cast her vote!Tucker DeVries was wearing an IU hoodie at the press conference. Also, he has a 16 year old daughter. Maybe an earlier thread about letting the teenage daughter decide was DeVries not Stevens.
But not a D-Rock, that's what his players and staff call him.Archie had the personality of a rock
Who is that player on your handle/profile? I'm drawing a blank when I really shouldnt. But not a D-Rock, that's what his players and staff call him.
in his defense, the players will guard the 3!In his defense, it takes a lot of work to get over a hump of that magnitude.
when i heard "i don't just want a collection of players, i want a team" and " the lockerroom is paramount"This is not just 'talk' from Devries. He coaches and believes so similarly to Coach Cig that I have to believe Coach DeVries knows what he's doing on a similar level.

Was that the kid that went to osu? Funderburk maybe? That is a class of 89' pf the transfered out taking a probable banner with him. One of the best low post players in the Big Ten during the 90's. He turned into a really good dude.
That’s my guess tooWas that the kid that went to osu? Funderburk maybe?
I don't know.Was Woodson running 3 hours practices? That's crazy.
Three hours and still couldn't hit a free throw. Go Hoosiers! Was Woodson running 3 hours practices? That's crazy.
Gotcha nowThat is a class of 89' pf the transfered out taking a probable banner with him. One of the best low post players in the Big Ten during the 90's. He turned into a really good dude.
One thing I saw from Coach D that I never saw in Coach Woody!! Coach D had a red and white tie on he is bought in and proud to be our coach. Woody never wore red.
And I thought the JMU folks were salty.DeVries did make it sound like IU has been in contact with his agent for a while.... Perhaps he wasn't 5th on Dolson's list.
Yes, him ditching WVU after one season rubs me the wrong way. That is a program that has been way more successful than IU the last twenty years.Cheating of your basketball wife during your first year of marriage. Sketchy.
