read the descriptions of DD's personality in the flame thread. I'm guessing he doesn't have charisma to do that, and on such short notice, it might be hard to get a decent turnout. If he doesn't have much charisma, probably easier to do a standard PC and not risk bad optics.

And I think Pope will be solid to good.Listened to him for about 2 minutes so far and he has much better presence and personality than Archie. He's not Pope in that regard, but Pope is exceptional I think. Sounds fine, not a detriment imo.

I'd like to see DeVries, Hansberry, Harris and Powell come with him. Of he could bring Odih from his 25 class as well. Sisley and Goode that's not a bad start.

I am certainly glad woodson is gone that was the worst hire in IU history. Whether or not this guy is huge winner here I do not know but I at least think he will work much harder than woodson ever did.
Again, pinning expectations on him to get Mullins or Haralson, is not realistic. He'll make the call, but those ships have sailed and it would be up to them to reverse course. I do think if he'd been here this past year, one or both would be Hoosiers. As someone else said, when it got to bball, roster construction, style of play, he relaxed and was very good.
They're both signed. He can't make the call or even talk about them. They'd both have to make the move on their side to flip.

Yep. I was excited about Archie initially. I was willing to give Woodson the benefit of the doubt because he was a great player and he played for Knight. Lessons learned. Then I saw the Cignetti transformation. Just win.
Tucker DeVries was wearing an IU hoodie at the press conference. Also, he has a 16 year old daughter. Maybe an earlier thread about letting the teenage daughter decide was DeVries not Stevens.
This is not just 'talk' from Devries. He coaches and believes so similarly to Coach Cig that I have to believe Coach DeVries knows what he's doing on a similar level.
He even used the exact same phrase as Cig "the standard is the standard" for the players in roster construction and their buyin and their work and his work. (!!) Said follow the process doing all the small things at a high level and the winning takes care of itself.
Then he sounded the same when he said he doesn't run three hour practices he runs 90 minute ones, 70 minutes during the season ... Going full out, because he believes the players learn quicker that way and then, IN THE GAME, making decisions quickly is something they've already faced.
Pretty much exactly what Cig says about you don't feel the pressure when you practice that way, the game feels much the same even when it's the fourth quarter.

That is a class of 89' pf the transfered out taking a probable banner with him. One of the best low post players in the Big Ten during the 90's. He turned into a really good dude.

I didn't hear Devries say anything about that. I assumed he was just referring to a generic old school approach that some coaches may use, to work their guys into shape with tough practices.
I want the full story about him shaving his eyebrows back in 2010. Is it true that his barber had an accident and took a chunk out of one of his eyebrows, leading Woody to shave the other eyebrow so it matched?

Yes, him ditching WVU after one season rubs me the wrong way. That is a program that has been way more successful than IU the last twenty years.
