Not exactly breaking news, but I'm sure some of you noticed that Brandon Shelby is listed as the cornerbacks coach and Noah Joseph is listed as the safeties coach. Before last season, Kevin Wilson changed their titles to "co-secondary coaches."
I talked to both of them about the title this week. It seemed like both of them just figured it made more sense to call a spade a spade. Joseph was always with the safeties and will take the free, strong and Husky as his own. Shelby will focus on his corners.
However, both stressed that they work together a ton, especially now that the Husky is involved. They've got their hands on the boundaries with the corners, the back end with the conventional safeties and now the linebacker area with the Husky. That's a lot of positions in their hands.
Long story short, I thought the dynamic there was interesting. Both coaches got burned by injuries last year but sounded optimistic they could get the secondary fixed together. Easier said than done, of course.
