Not the posters who posted “he gone” as if their opinion was an irrefutable fact every time the subject of TJD came up - for the past two years.TJD and Thompson staying? Gosh, who could have ever guessed this would happen?
I tried to tell people of the rumors I was hearing that they had signed a one-year lease on the apartment but everybody thought that was funnyRace and Trayce signing deals? Looks like they aren't going anywhere.
Agree. But it is what it isI hate what the NIL is doing to college sports.
You’re the type of person who will blame the coaches when things don’t go well and bless the players or attribute the other team when things do go well. Did you expect Fred to put on his contractor hat? Just dumbHe received money from the B10 and hired architects, engineers, and contractors. All B10 athletics departments made major upgrades with that money during that period of time. Are you saying you like those specific projects? Glass didn’t design them.
You’re new here, so I will give you a pass. I’ve been trumpeting this for months. Not the posters who posted “he gone” as if their opinion was an irrefutable fact every time the subject of TJD came up - for the past two years.
Not everyone. Most knew the decisions were far from done. And they may well still be.I tried to tell people of the rumors I was hearing that they had signed a one-year lease on the apartment but everybody thought that was funny
I was backing up what you said. I’m also far from new. I’ve been on this board and it’s predecessors from their beginning. You’re new here, so I will give you a pass. I’ve been trumpeting this for months.
Two things are going to happen in college basketball. One, the sad stories are going to get sadder. Two, certain athletes are going to stay in school longer.
When Archie was hired it was pretty unanimously considered a home run. Not a grand slam, big name, but very popular. Didn’t work out.You just casually described why he failed with the most valuable brand under his management over the course of his 11 year tenure. This is acceptable to people that don’t understand the concept of opportunity cost.
I was joking. I remember you, HinK.I was backing up what you said.
You might remember me as Hoosier in Japan before that. I’ve stuck with AH although I’ve live in Ohio and California and back to Ohio since we left Hawaii. Easier that way.I was joking. I remember you, HinK.
I thought there was a soccer, Grace and Mac for women’s basketball, Mullen for football and Tuttle, a softball player. Saw the full list somewhere. You were right, women’s soccer. Need to get some soccer and baseball. https://www.si.com/college/indiana/...y-organization-under-name-image-likeness-dealI know this is the edge of the beginning but pretty surprised no men's soccer, baseball talent listed. Again only the leading edge, imagine come Fall it expands. Great initial NIL organization effort.
...and grassroots organization has always been a strong skillset of Fred Glass...

by who? Jeff Goodman? like he knows freaking basketballWhen Archie was hired it was pretty unanimously considered a home run. Not a grand slam, big name, but very popular. Didn’t work out.
He did do nice job with facilities but also keep in mind Glass’s tenure over-lapped with the inception of the Big 1G Network- you or I could’ve built facilities with that cash windfall. Fred Glass may have driven a stake into IU men’s basketball- I’ll never see him as a good AD nowWhile he certainly made some questionable calls, he did a lot of good things. Particularly regarding sports facilities. If we are being impartial that is.
He is good at gathering funds. I like where he is at now.He did do nice job with facilities but also keep in mind Glass’s tenure over-lapped with the inception of the Big 1G Network- you or I could’ve built facilities with that cash windfall. He garnered some major donations for those facilities. Yes, every B1G school gets network money, but we don’t begin to generate the money the conference football factories do.He did do nice job with facilities but also keep in mind Glass’s tenure over-lapped with the inception of the Big 1G Network- you or I could’ve built facilities with that cash windfall. He was just OK. It wasn’t just the network money, though that never hurts. He put in a lot of work to drive those projects and secure private donations as well.He did do nice job with facilities but also keep in mind Glass’s tenure over-lapped with the inception of the Big 1G Network- you or I could’ve built facilities with that cash windfall. We should start building a new cook hall now.He was just OK. It wasn’t just the network money, though that never hurts. He put in a lot of work to drive those projects and secure private donations as well.
He’s not a dumb guy. He just didn’t know how to find the right coaches and put them in a position to be successful. We were sorely lacking from a facilities perspective. That is no longer the case, which has a lot to do with Fred Glass.
I hope Dolson maintains the facilities edge, because it is a never ending race. And then improves coach selection and funding to make them successful. I like what he has done so far, but long way to go.
By nearly everyone, including Dayton fans who loved him and hoped he wouldn’t leave, and OSU who were hoping he’d be available after Matta, and Bob Knight. There are many others. Give it a rest and let it go. It was a good hire at the time which didn’t work out.by who? Jeff Goodman? like he knows freaking basketball
Hillary and Joe were both popular. When Archie was hired it was pretty unanimously considered a home run. Not a grand slam, big name, but very popular. Didn’t work out.
“He just didn’t know how to find the right coaches and put them in a position to be successful.” That’s the first sentence in the AD job description. He was just OK. It wasn’t just the network money, though that never hurts. He put in a lot of work to drive those projects and secure private donations as well.

Or renovation. Need continuous investment for sure. Living in SEC territory, you see it every year. Even top of the line facilities get renovated to make them bigger and better. Arms race that we need to play.We should start building a new cook hall now.
Although to some extent there’s a lot of luck involved in coaching hires. Archie on paper would have been considered his best hire, he just didn’t work out. Wilson had flaws but with IUs history, it was going to hard to do much better and the deck was always going to be stacked against him, but at least left the program in better shape than he started. The jury is still out on Allen and whether he can rebound, but he did produce 2 of IUs best 4 or 5 seasons seasons in the last 50 years and has recruiting moving in the right direction. He was just OK. It wasn’t just the network money, though that never hurts. He put in a lot of work to drive those projects and secure private donations as well.

Luck, skill, prayer, whatever. We have fallen short on the hires, as well as the support structure around those hires to maximize the chance of success. Dolson seems to get that better, but we shall see.Although to some extent there’s a lot of luck involved in coaching hires. Yes, I agree that it was certainly time for Glass to move on, just arguing about putting glass’ tenure into perspectiveLuck, skill, prayer, whatever. Wut???Hillary and Joe were both popular.
Yup biased explains it all.Biased, yes. I was a student there for six years while Glass was there.
When a task like fundraising or facilities projects are the focus FG is excellent at assembling a network organization to reach the desired results. He is good at gathering funds. I like where he is at now.
Wilson was exactly what was needed to rid the soft underbelly infesting the culture of IUFB and AD Glass knew he needed an old school bastard to accomplish it.Although to some extent there’s a lot of luck involved in coaching hires. This is where he shines. When a task like fundraising or facilities projects FG is excellent at assembling a network organization to reach the desired results.
How much funds does winning programs bring? You are just propagating the false narrative that protected Glass’s job. Remember Crean is a nice guy and he follows the rules?Wilson was exactly what was needed to rid the soft underbelly infesting the culture of IUFB and AD Glass knew he needed an old school bastard to accomplish it.
Also Glass was an idiot for the $100 fans donor statement..You fail to recall Glass extending Kevin Wilson in February and then firing him in November. Glass gets credit for facilities and swimming and baseball- but he was brutal on both cash generating sports so I prefer he stay in law practice. We of course did have two great seasons under HC Allen but I can’t take too much stock in a Covid season when he was winless in conference with folks in the stands.
I don't know if this is a good thing, it kind of screams of retired lawyers of Btown for supplemental income exploiting everything, I can read between the lines. This is being used for recruiting, which it is not supposed to, i mean seriously, when I need the new Anthony Leal ball or JG's sneakers, I'd rather have them custom made. There's no Kobe on our roster, exactly who on this roster should receive free room and board, tuition, and a salary more than half professional staff there make?
What was your handle back then? Don't recall an Earl Tubbs. You were one of the first guys I encountered on the old Star News Forums, close to 30 years ago.
Yonkman and Glass are both smart guys and Glass is incredibly well-connected in and out of athletics. Don't know Harris but it sounds like what you describe...bring in a guy that knows the ropes (as well as anyone can in this wild wild west. One kinda odd note. The main guy I worked with in compliance for NIL was a guy named Tyler Harris. In this article a Tyler Harris is the "director" for Hoosiers for Good. It has to be the same person. Must have just taken this job, and who better to know what is allowed, than the former head of compliance.
Time for some Prevagen, hoss. What was your handle back then? Don't recall an Earl Tubbs.
So you can't recall, or you made it up?Time for some Prevagen, hoss.
