Just checked some stats online and it confirms our recurring problem of a sieve-like defense. Below are some IU defensive stats and rankings per ESPN along with where the 64th rank defense would be.
Total yards = 3,529 (126 out of 128) (64th rank = 2,496)
Yards / game = 504 (119 out of 128) (64th rank = 382)
Scoring / game = 35.1 (107 out of 128) (64th rank = 26.0)
Sacks = 17.0 (29 out of 128) (64th rank = 13.0)
Quite a jump from where we are now to be middle of the pack on the top 3 which is even more glaring considering that last stat. Once again, if we were just average on defense, we'd be a bowl team.
And a bonus item
Net punting = 36.1 (94 out of 128)
Gross punting = 40.9 (82 out of 128)
