This is a classic Mcm post. If you ignore all of these goals we let up, we’re basically on par with Bundesliga 2 teams.

That being said, you aren’t wrong. Bundesliga games are definitely more structured (vs La Liga), lots of solid crosses for goals vs outside the box shots and fancy footwork.

To your point, MLS teams can probably compete with lower tier teams in major countries. Keep closing the gap.
I love watching Dortmunds Guirassy heading in crosses. The man is money at the 9.

Damn, I just spent a good 20 mintues writing out a detailed analysis of my Champions League picks. Ok my analysis is flawed because I'm terribly biased. I hit post reply and got that damn Oops messge, push the back button and try again. So without further ado (I know you've all been waiting for this) My short version picks for the Round of 16 Champions League.

Winners in Boldface

Aston Villa vs Club Brugge I see this as an upset pick for the starless Belgium side.

Dortmund vs Lille, Lille is a tough side having beaten Real Madrid once, but I'm a Serhous Guirassy (an underated player with the most goals this season in the UCL). Dortmuch haven't been themselves, but if the new manager puts Gittens back in the starting 11 I'll pick Dortmund.

Real Madrid vs Atletico Here's a classic bias pick. I really don't like RM. They're my Dallas Cowboys of European Football. I think Atletico will get over the hump in this soon to be classic.

PSV vs Arsenal I wanted to pick PSV with their American ties, but I believe both Amerians are injured and PSV's form is pretty horrible right now. Arsenal is ravaged with injuries though. I miss seeing Saka play! I think they will have enough though to push through to next round and then will lose to whoever they face.

Feyenoord vs Inter Milan Defense, Defense, Defense will prevail in this matchup with just enough Lautora Martinez to push them through.

Benfica vs Barcelona Another one of my bias picks. I love me some Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and old man Lewandowski. Nuf said.

Bayern vs Leverkusen I think Kompany will get outcoached and Leverkusen will be highly motivated as they're hosting the league final. Should be a great matchup though.

PSG vs Liverpool PSG has a lot of young talent and is probably a hot pick for the upset but I think Liverpool is the best Europen side this season. I have them winning the Champions League this year. I see them tying PSG on the road today and blowing out PSG at home. Salah will be the MVP of the entire tournament.

Alright, who you guys got?

Actually I was thinking maybe I should revise my pick against Aston villa. I forgot Rashford has been a force so far and could be the difference. We’ll just let it play out.

Damn good stuff eppy. I always largely pick the bigger clubs as they so often find a way. I will say that there probably isn’t a sports franchise in the world that does better business than Benfica.

Damn Eppy, wish you had posted this earlier and I missed much of the games due to work. I liked the Brugge pick even though it went the other way on them.

Atletico had some chances, but just doesn't have enough talent to keep up with RM. My man Rodrygo continues his tear.

Arsenal - wow, didn't see that coming, even though there were some easy goals and Raya stopped it from being a closer game.

BVB should be better than they are and although Adeyami is playing well and generating a lot of chances from edge of the box, I think Lille has the edge going into the next leg.

I'm with you on Inter Milan, Feynoord surprised some, but has been playing just okay of late and Inter has more talent.

Barca - they are really gelling now. To go along with your three studs, Gavi and Pedri have been playing incredible football of late.

Bayern vs. Leverkusen - what a friggin matchup! Bayern has a ton of talent, but give me Schick to score the game winner for Leverkusen in a low-scoring, grinder.

PSG - give me the home side in an upset. Been scoring goals and generating tons of chances of late and Liverpool's GK situation is dramatic and unimpressive.

Funny how the studios shows have evolved into entertainment. I remember growing up how it might be just one guy at a news desk just giving the scores and maybe one analyst like Seamus whatever his last name. I think when Fox NFL started years ago the studio game changes forever and for the better.

This is like NBA on TNT - you aren't watching for the highlights, but rather the drama and humor.

Today is going to be good. I’ll watch Barca Benfica. Benfica’s greatest ever? Eusebio. The pride of Portugal. Ballon dor winner. Ten greatest players of all time. Random spent a season in the MISL playing for buffalo. Bizarro
And just as I thought, defense and Lautaro. They could surprise and make a deep run. Maybe not such a surprise.

Man, whenever Lamine Yamal is on it’s must watch TV, but there’s three games I’d really like to watch. I wish Livepool/PSG would have been the highlighted early game. It deserves everyone’s attention.

I hate that they are played simultaneously. I can’t watch replays

This disallowed PSG goal is precisely why I don’t like the current rules for offsides. If a player is a heel or partial body offsides but it has absolutely nothing to do with the on ball play then what are we doing here? Fans want more goals and there really isn’t an advantage by the player called offsides. Am I wrong here? I think it’s time offsides rules should evolve.

Shit you should have watched when even was off. My old man leagues play no offsides. It’s a joy to watch. By about the 15 minute mark there’s 11 guys in one box. 11 guys in the other box. And 80 yards of empty grass between.

Red card in Barca game. Just destroys games

I guess the guys in your game are in a lot better shape than the leagues I would play in….half of us would be dragging ass. No way we’re all in the box together. Unless everyone is cherry picking.

Have you seen these over 50 leagues? You know they say you gain something 1-2 pounds every year you age so by over 50 the players are just massive 🤣🤣
Technically I’m in much better shape at 50 than I was from say 26-44. When my belly started getting in the way from tying my shoes I said enough is enough. I felt like shit and was eating horribly. It took some time to build up endurance in the gym but I’m in the best shape of my life not counting my athletic competing days. I’m sure I’ve added significant time to the end of my life.

That’s awesome man. Well done

Though the older I’ve gotten I finally understood my food intake was even more important than my gym time. I’m sure we all remember the days you could practically eat whatever you wanted and still go compete the next day. That is until you’d eat and then go sit on the couch for days watching sports and drinking beer.

You are spot on. It’s 90 percent diet 10 percent working out. I lift heavy weights Mon thru fri. I walk to work every day. I try to play soccer twice a week and sometimes as much as four times. Yet I drink two beers a night every night. Eat an obscene amount of processed foods. And am a sugar addict. Two Oreos will wipe out a week of working out lol. I have got to do better

I’ve worked out with the same trainer for almost 7 years now. He only wants me lifting weights 3 days per week. Says you need to let your body rest. Says the more you lift the less effect it will have. Kind of like building a tolerance. Plus the muscles need to rest. He doesn’t mind me doing additional cardio though. Honestly my hardest day is plyometrics day. That beats the shit out of me everyday. Our goal is to hit 170bpm every workout.

Plyometrics is so hard!! I do bench tris one day. Shoulders bis the next. Free weights No legs.
