There’s going to be pain. Musk told us. If we want to be more independent etc we will have to transition. Maybe it’ll be offset by lower taxes other changes. Maybe it’ll be a bust. Who knows. Unlike the Biden/Harris dumb and dumber we actually have incredibly bright people with new ideas coming to gov. This is exciting stuff. We should want our best and brightest called to gov. My god not Harris and walz.

Where does anything on those lists say he is negotiating anything so why bring it up. Seems like a lot of the leaders of other countries want to meet with him now. Probably little more than just to congratulate him. So what.

The parts that are foreign and used for local assembly will be bought, with the local maker paying tariffs, and then surely passing the cost on to you.

Every car, even Fords and Chevys, have many foreign-made parts. Tariffs will make their prices go up.

Hell, even most things made wholly in America use some foreign-acquired ingredients, if just for packaging. Most plastics are imported, for example.

That wasn't the issue although a couple of the things listed would have required negotiation by someone (wasn't Trump). It was the hyperbole of all the things supposedly magically done within 48 hours of when Trump. None of it was supported by anything other than the hyperbole. That's all.

So you are saying that this is another tool, placed in the hands of US companies to negotiate down the original price of each product, offsetting the tariff, right? They have no clue, and you and Aloha are just wasting your time. You can't guide the misguided, you can't re-raise fail children, you can't fix stupid, you can't make weirdos act normal.

I work at Toyota in Princeton and we have parts suppliers throughout the Midwest and south. In fact, Helene caused a production stoppage because we couldn’t get parts from Tennessee and the Carolinas. We were off work for two days because of the disruption to our suppliers.

We also build right hand drive Highlanders for export.

I’m not sure how much we import versus what we export but it can’t be that much of a difference.

The paperwork for a new car has the percentage of parts manufactured in the US on it.
