The present 247 projection for the 2022 class has IU 4th in the Big Ten,
despite the 2-10 record (4th @ 5:33 PM, 12/15).
https://247sports.com/Season/2022-Football/CompositeTeamRankings/?Conference=Big-Ten

Will we go higher or lower or meet the projection? (Meeting so far)

4th or 5th would be big time, I think … Any season IU out recruits Purdue is a plus.
3rd is unobtainium. IU probably needs 3 more signings than ‘that team up North’

With the transfer portal exits … will we sign more than the expected 17 signees?
I‘m thinking there may be two. (Two it is so far, on 12/15. Added 1, K. Perry, 12/17).

National ranking is 18th (slipped to 20th … still a good day. 12/17 Now 18th. 2/2/22 finished 21st)

As of right now we are taking in 6 transfers, but don't forget where have also lost 16 scholarship players as transfers out. Granted I really don't know how many seniors will be staying/going with the free year of eligibility. There is nothing conventional about managing the 85 scholarships in the new age of CFB with the transfer portal. I don't have the faintest idea how many scholarships we have open so I'm speculating here, but I feel like aside from James and Bailey(assuming they both commit), we will probably take another 3-5 guys from either the portal or HS.

I know some of you are not Tom Brew fans.

Tom Reports that no program achieved a top-20 recruiting class after a 2 win season…
Until Indiana did it first this year.

What Allen and his staff accomplished with this class is nothing short of astonishing. And to people who say Indiana will never be able to recruit with the likes of Ohio State and Penn State, I say don't sell our guys short. if they were able to ink a Top 20 class after a 2-10 season, imagine what they could do after another 8 win season - - or, even better, a 9+ win season - - in the next couple of years.

Allen is probably selling Indiana's proximity to the South. Bloomington is a short drive to Kentucky, Tennessee and the upper South. Iowa, Purdue, Minnesota, NW, etc., can not make that pitch.

He is a fine recruiter.

Most of the HS recruits committed before the 2-10 season. It's nice we kept them - or most of them - but they were the results of the 2020 season.

We'll see in the Spring and Summer how 2-10 plays out in this year's recruiting.

He’s actually not recruiting with the likes of them. We are actually closer to last than first (Ave commit) but point taken.

That last graphic, with the (average) number of P5 offers per recruit … is reflected in the average score,
where fewer, but better recruits, outscored MSU for 4th.

The trend line in the bar graph for P5 offers per recruit shows the improvement in year over year results.

IU clearly no longer fields a roster of G5 talent.
