Should we have self-reported?

He was doing wrong by his players, de-emphasizing academics. That's what turned me against him. You don't want your basketball team being a bunch of low-lifes.

Sampson is a better coach than either Crean or Miller. Notice how he was taken in immediately by NBA teams when the NCAA suspended him.

We should hire Sampson back, if he would come. No guarantees. It's starting to get to the point where coaches know of and are leery of IU's joke administration and internal politics.

IU will never be an elite program if elite coaches refuse to coach here. End of story. It's time some people in the administration feel the same pain as the fans have for many years now. I kind of like the idea of defenestration, but that will never happen...
If they hired Samscum back I would quit following the team until he left. As a fan I've got self respect. Calvin doesn't deserve our support for what he did to our program.

I wonder what ever became of that intern in the Compliance Dep't who caught Sampson on the phone call thing.

I'm sure he's made a name for himself somewhere.

Sampson's problem was way beyond phone calls, drugs and academics too. He is a good coach and the best after Knight but he was not a fit to Indiana. That ship has sailed. whatever.
Disagree, any “GOOD” coach would never allow the need for a DD to clean their house

Correct me if I am wrong but didnt we just lose scholarship numbers and that was the punishment? We gave ourself the death penalty by totally cleaning house and hiring Crean. I felt like we could have went a numerous different ways. People will argue that Crean was the best we could get but look at UL, they hired a great coach with all of their mess. This happened 10 years ago, its time to move on and get behind our current coach and program. If he doesnt get it done soon then we will move on and Archie knows it.

Phone calls weren't the reason why Sampson was fired. Sampson thought he was untouchable because we were winning and wouldn't get the team under control when told to reign them in.

There's a reason why Eric Gordon moved off campus second semester. Could it be to get away from the team?

If you haven’t listened to the Brian Snow podcast that was posted go listen; he alluded that IU actually try’s to catch you cheating instead of trying to help you out, it’s a hold over from the holy days of Knight

Yes what a great supportive school we have. Add to list of other cultural actions/attitudes towards the main revenue sports vs successful programs

No good deed goes unpunished. We need to find out where North Carolina, Louisville, LSU, and others who are or have faced NCAA investigation obtained their legal advice and retain those people.

I would go with UNC's legal team. U of L's legal advice cost them a a ton of vacated games, including 2 final fours and 1 championship. And, they haven't even gotten to the FBI situation just yet.

do you have some insider info? wondering because you said sampson was told to reign the players in and gordon moved off campus. very unusual for a freshman. it all sounds plausible. have heard gordon had a problem with the rampant drug use amongst the team. never from a source close to the team

One of my friends from Washington said that IU lost Tyler Zeller because of Calvin. Leadership is very important because it filters down. If your coach is shady so will the players because like attracts like.

I know his name. I call him Calvin Samscum until he apologizes to the IU fanbase for what he did to our program.
You’re a supposed Christian who refers to a fellow human being as “scum”? Perhaps you need to re-examine those parts of the Bible that address both forgiveness and compassion.

i just don't understand how a christian, and a pastor no less, can support one of the most vile and disgusting humans to ever walk the earth. i don't think you have the right to stand up in front of people and teach god's word because you have no respect for god's teachings
Wow! You have been watching too many CNN and MSNBC opinion pieces that masquerade as news. Get some balance in your perspectives.

Trump is pro life. That issue is very important to me because the most precious and defenseless in our society and how we treat them says a lot about us. It's also the snuffing out of life that should at least have a chance to be lived. Clinton is for abortion. Has she slammed the New York State Legislature who applauded when they passed their law saying abortion is legal up until the day of birth? Has she slammed Ralph Naurtham who is the Governor of Virginia who said that abortion can take place after birth? He actually said that they would keep the child, the CHILD comfortable until the mother and doctors decided on what they wanted to do.

Trump’s latest budget wants to cut $3.5 billion from programs that provide nutrition to pregnant women and infants. That isn’t pro-life. What you are is pro-fetus. You don’t give a damn what happens to that baby once it is born. Late term abortion is extremely rare and only happens if the life of the mother is at risk or the fetus has a fatal abnormality. A decision is made in consultation with a physician. The government has no business interfering in situations like this. And infanticide is already illegal. What Northam was talking about is a situation where a newborn has a fatal birth defect and will only live a short time.

Please, please, please take this to the water cooler. There is enough sh@t on here without adding political arguments.

Not sure you want to go anywhere near UofL’s legal team. We self reported and investigated the stripper gate stuff to the full extent, and even preemptively held ourselves out of the 2016 NCAA tournament, but that sure didn’t help us keep the 2013 NCAA title.

As far as the FBI shoe company stuff is concerned, we did immediately fire Pitino and Jurich. I hope our legal team is better when we go to court and argue that we don’t owe Pitino $38 million because we fired him for cause.

The actions of the NCAA tells schools to never self-report. It's much like politics, lie and deny. If you do get caught, you play dumb.

I think getting rid of the one and done garbage would go a long way towards cleaning up college basketball.

me? are you joking?
Sorry that was NOT towards you.

It was the man that is a walking talking billboard for the alt-right.

I quoted your post with VPM's post in yours. It only posted your comment. I meant to reply to VPM as he is a cliche of all that is wrong with the idea of being a holy person that has the dumbest politics known to man. I say far-right because he is not conservative.
