Russia-Ukraine war has begun

Concur. We'll see what our negotiators can get done.
I've said before I think Putin will frustrate Trump enough that Trump will either throw up his hands and walk away from it or continue to arm Ukraine.

That was before it seems to have become personal with him and Zelensky. Now, I'm not sure what will happen, but I can almost guarantee Putin isn't giving up anything any time soon.

Oh yeah, I"m sure CNN did the interview after 'careful consideration'.....

This is what pisses me off about JD - he was so disingenuous in front of Zelensky. When asked if he'd been to the front lines, he said Z was just giving propaganda tours. Well, here is his f'ing COUSIN who served 3 years there on the front line.

Think the cousin could have given him some perspective, other than a propaganda tour?

Sometimes, life really is stranger than fiction.

I would be surprised if there is an agreement. Russia is being Russia. No concessions. They have said no to the idea of a ceasefire. Maybe Trump has an ace up his sleeve…I think it’s going to be a tough putt

Good read and accurate
Very good article and great points.

Only problem is, Putin doesn't really care. He's all about personal power and wealth. If Russia is treated as a pariah, so what? He's still emperor in Russia and he has his dacha and wealth. His only concern is staying alive to enjoy his status, and he can buy all the security he needs because the Russian people aren't organized enough to overthrow him.

Him fighting Ukraine is actually to his advantage, because it keeps his nation on a war footing and Russians will rush to defend the Motherland, if needed. We think our paranoia is bad - it's not on par with the average Russian.

Putin gets significantly chunk of Ukraine (possibly) but he definitely paid a cost of substantial proportion

Putin wants as much Black Sea coastline as possible. Crimea was a major gain. This episode of the Ukraine war has been far less effective.

He may have the coastline, but his ships get sunk. Not much use of a coastline, unless it's for the beaches.

Turkey controls access anyway.

Putin could have had access to ports in Crimea without invading it. If he thinks Ukraine is just going to stop trying to take it back, he's sorely mistaken.
