Republican anti-vaxers are stalling US race to herd immunity

Lmao people are flocking to fla to get away from idiots like this guy. Infection Rate lol. Lock em down!

Florida (besides Miami and the Keys) is hillbilly heaven. From what I see of the crowd, I'm happy they're all getting concentrated in the transient, no culture, strip mall state. They can have it! What an awful place.

Your own governor calls it "God's waiting room". And "Florida is 'Ground Zero' for the nursing home."

Sounds FUN!

I was (mistakenly, evidently) copied on an all-employee email last week from my old employer. He's pissed.

Evidently a key production employee -- who I'd call a "Covid ain't no big deal" type -- tested positive and will be out for at least ten days. That will put a crimp in their style. He had been eligible for the vaccination for some time and hadn't bothered to get it.

Owner said he'd heard from several people who have been asking "How long are we gonna have to wear these masks?" He said they would lift the mask requirement once 100% of the staff could show proof of vaccination or when the CDC said it was safe to do so without a 100% staff vaccination rate.

Ummm....I believe the city of St. Louis is the murder capital of the country...and yes. Those are horrible places unless you can afford to live on or very near the water, which you can't.

Yeah, but putting the mask thing back on the staff was a good move. Don't like the masks? Get a vaccine and tell your coworker to get his. Peer pressure.

That's right. Once they understand that, and they see other companies' employees going to work mask free, they'll (hopefully) get the message.

I'm sorry you end up wrong about nearly everything you post because you're too lazy to actually research anything before you blurt out another meaningless post.
Lmao. Hardly. Again you could use a civics course. Twitter appears the sum of your knowledge. Look up the 10th amendment and about two hundred years of cases. You’re all opinions and feelings and no substance. A far left twittermaton. Feds prevent external threats (Wuhan) and state to state. States within each border. Get off twitter....

Do you ever provide any data or information? All you do is wing it. Every. Single. Time.

Oh...and the only social media platform I'm on is LinkedIn. That's all...which is why I'm an informed person and you are informed by your crazy uncle from facebook.

Oh...and here's the data you're to lazy to look up about the "murder capital" of the US. Spoiler alert: Chicago comes in at #24.

Compton is safer than St. Louis! LOL.

Because I know it off the top of my head. That New Yorker article you linked quoted fauci going on about not understanding why we don’t have a national order. I don’t need a link. I can tell you off of the top of my head. The 10th amendment. It’s state power not federal. Civics 101

No you can't. You have no knowledge of the situation and you're too lazy to read about it. You're definitely not too lazy to incorrectly opine on it, though.

And you refuse to read the 10 amendment and understand federalism and state sovereignty. Without a rudimentary understanding of same I’m pissing in the wind talking to you as you bleat about “national orders”

As Bill Nye said yesterday:

“This idea that everybody has the freedom to do anything is—we all know that's not exactly right. You can't yell ‘fire’ in a crowded theater if there's no fire and so on. You can't drive on both sides of the road even though you pay taxes on both sides of the road.”

These idiots have just decided what "freedom" is.

And as Nye says: “Everybody on the other side, it's not fair to make me wear a mask. it's not fair to make me get vaccinated,” he said. “Well, it's not fair to everybody else if you become an incubator for a new Covid variant."

At some point, this should become a legislative and national defense issue. The government needs to "provide for the common defense" and "promote the general welfare" of the country. Not let the lunatics run the

Are you two debating whether it would be constitutional for the federal government to mandate COVID vaccinations?

McM is somehow trying to say everything Covid is up to the states. I have no idea what he's talking about.

That’s a different question though it is likely limited at best. Thru the commerce clause the const gives congress the power to Reg commerce BETWEEN states. HHS uses this to adopt measures to prevent the spread of communicable diseases among the states. So they could in theory mandate to prevent spread between states. But vaccine mandates for school etc are intra state. Federalism. State sovereignty. Health concerns are largely state and local matters

You have any numbers relative to republicans in general or are you just talking shit like usual?

Do you? Or are you just attacking with zero substance per usual? Sticking your little nose out from your left wing bunker to snipe.

Yeah. Nonresponsive predictable. Calling out trump when your own state can’t pay its bills so it’s applying a rob Peter to pay Paul approach to run up debt hoping for a federal bailout from the rest of us. You must have hit your head on that bike ride to be this stupid

I think it’s a largely untested issue. Sure, the feds could provide incentives to states that do it, but if you are a legal realist, I’m not sure the smart money would be on this SupCt upholding a fed vaccine mandate (i.e. a law passed forcibly requiring all persons to be vaccinated). Its questionable whether a state could get away with such a law under the police power but would depend on how constructed (a requirement to go to school? Clearly constitutional. A requirement to gather for prayer services? Maybe not. A mandate where people are forced to take the vaccine and are not fined for it instead which is Jacobsen? Questionable.) And if it’s not the last option (forced vaccinations), I’m not sure the law would achieve our desired results.

The history of vaccines and the sct is interesting - as well as the old anti vaccination societies and leagues. My grandfather had horrible polio. He was a huge guy but one leg looked like a broomstick. Polio was such a big part of the lives of many of that generation and now today it’s rarely considered. Hopefully Covid will be the same in time

No reason to bother with mandates. Just allow insurers to deny coverage for treatment of COVID if someone doesn't get vaccinated.
