Reality check for the anti-Beard folks…

Remember that Josh Schertz had an even better record in the MVC last year with ISU. He is also doing good things at St Louis this year. It isn't that McCollum isn't a good coach. I'm sure he is. It is just a big jump to bet on a terrific young coach that hasn't done it in major college BB yet.
And he needs to win right away. People are not going to be patient anymore with a slow turnaround especially given the NIL we have.

Yes, we know you’re in perpetual panic and the sky is always falling.

Earlier this season you were convinced Scott could not fire Woody.
Well he didn't fire him they claim its a retirement so it looks like at least the way its being sold to the public I was correct.

I get that tournament luck is important and that building the right roster involves luck. I just don't want to have to rely on that same luck again and again.

Think about this. Chris Beard is 14-6 in the NCAA Tournament. He actually had his best roster and was set to have a nice run the year he and his ex had their famous spat...or it would have been even better.
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. The harder you work the luckier you get.

And exactly what are "people" going to do if the next coach doesn't win right away. And what exactly do you mean by winning right away? What's your criteria?

They will probably lose interest pretty fast after the last eight seasons is what they will do. Making the tourney and winning over 20 games in year one. Other than Nebraska Football we may be the most patient fan base in all of college but a time does come when people are just done with patience.

That patience has been rewarded with one mediocre hire after another. The question is.....can IU break the pattern after 2 decades? I have my doubts.

Winning 20 and making the tourney shouldn't be a problem at IU WITH a competent coach.

Y ou sound like a victim rationalizing why you should go back again.
For me it’s even if he did , has there been a change in him and whatever behaviors led to it. Everyone makes mistakes , the key for me is did he show repentance and learn from it with no additional issues.
