This isn’t a pledge for or against Woodson

Still thinking Elite 8? For those who were thinking maybe we should keep Woodson got a good reminder why he’ll be gone.
Any quick SEC group of guards will run the three starters for IU into the ground, and it wont be pretty. Only chance is it Rice plays like he did at Tennessee and makes some transition plays. If he is a no show, no shot. If all are clicking, it can get interesting.

I think they toned it down a bit after last night and now we are only making the sweet 16. But if woodson beats Ohio State I think the elite 8 is back on.

And that is the problem with IU Hoops. Unpredictable like Indiana weather and no sustained success. It’s amazing people forget what IU used to be and bounce back and forth following a mini burst of average basketball. There is nothing sweet or elite about this coach or team.

I dont think some of woodsons kool aid drinking hold outs are all that bright though. I had a guy on twitter tell me woodson was on the 1976 undefeated team. LOL.

There are a lot of people on this board who are not too bright either.

There might not be a choice other than modifying the retirement. If IU makes it to an elite 8 or better...IU would have no choice but to resend the retirement offer...

Holy Crap, you had me worried there for a moment...I thought you said rescind, but you said resend. Then yes, I agree, regardless of this year's outcome I believe IU should resend the retirement offer over and over until he packs his stuff and heads out.

I’m not campaigning for or against Woodson with this post. I’ll keep that opinion to myself in order to focus on the reality of him restraining his position.
There might not be a choice other than modifying the retirement. If IU makes it to an elite 8 or better, and they could the way they are starting to prime. But let’s assume they do for the sake of putting a reality to the question of Woodson being retained back as head coach.
One thing would be certain. No coach anywhere would touch the job if an elite 8 wasn’t acceptable to retain your job. Regardless of the way it’s played out or not. IU would have no choice but to resend the retirement offer. And honestly, if an elite 8 isn’t enough to get support from its fans, then this fanbase is eternally doomed. No coach from anyone’s list of great replacements would consider sabotaging their own careers to try and please an unappeasable audience.
Huh? So if IU makes some miracle run, i.e. E8, that dismisses the 3+ years? The 41-39 B10 record? 29% winning percentage vs Q1 teams? The 20+ or so double digit losses? The multiple.20+ point losses? I believe something like 50 of his 81 wins here , are vs Q3/4 teams. He's something like 15-37 vs P5 NCAAT teams.

But sure, make an E8--and all is forgotten.

My gawd.

Let's see if we win the next game before we start thinking about an E8 run.
