Ranking college basketball's underappreciated coaches

And you wonder why you get called a douche. Won’t even give our new coach another season. You’re all in on being a douche everyday with every comment.

Need me to read this article for you and translate since you are so f****** dumb? LOL
He’s not new. Hasn’t been for two years.

lol. no, he's new if you consider he'll likely have a long tenure. how many times do i have to explain these very basic things to you?
Nothing suggests he will have a long tenure. Quite the opposite actually.

I’ve been telling you for a long time now that 2 years isn’t enough to suggest anything at all. Lol. It’s the model the vast majority of good programs are using. You should get on board...

Good programs are using the model of missing the tournament and bringing in recruiting classes ranked in the 40s? What programs are you referencing? Are you sure it’s not another sport?

Ya, happens quite often after a coaching change. You stick with a guy through a few lean years and then the program blossoms.

You’d know that if you followed the game...

But you don’t. You prefer posting bullshit here day after day, week after week...on and on. Weird.

Just like it worked with Tom Crean? 9 years not long enough?

Feels like deja vu. Everyone saying the same things they did with Crean.

Who said 9 years? So you’re blaming Archie for what Crean didn’t do? And no one is saying shit but that Archie needs more than two years.

Sorry this is such an emotional process for you....

Often...there is no ‘blossom’...just continued poor performance by the coach that couldnt get it going from the start

But not so often that schools regularly fire coaches after couple years...lol

Again, Archie may fail but he needs time to so. Lol. Again, you would have fired half the coaches in this year’s sweet 16...

So your attempt to provide data was pointless? Figures...

Yet? He’ll either perform when given the appropriate amount of time or he won’t...

But I get your emotions cloud your judgement. IU owes you the last 30 years back and Archie —- after two years — has to pay.

It’s not even that you are dumb. Don’t get me wrong, you are painfully dumb. It’s that fans of other schools may come here and read you, and then will think we’re all dumb. That’s why I’m on this wall...calling you a dumb ass. Lol

Archie could just as easily be Bryce Drew, Wyking Jones, Marvin Menzies...To ignore that possibility based on the previous 2 seasons, and the current state of recruiting, is just showing ignorance.

This isn’t necessarily a shot at Arch.

But man. Holtman. That stings.

What stings more is we passed on Kruger for Creepy Crean.

I don think he’s Bryce Drew. But he’s overrated.

Again, who the f*** is ignoring? Lol

We’re just waiting to see if we have an Izzo or not. No way to tell at this point. But you’ll keep sharing your guess again and again and again with the same stupid snidely shit day after day. Like a...(wait for it)....douche.

Or he could be Tom Izzo or Jay Wright or John Belein who all had worse records than Archie while missing the tournament in each of their first 2 years at their first major college gig. That’s exactly that point. You can’t judge a coach after 2 years.

I don’t think Archie is done yet. I still think he can turn things around. If he doesn’t, Indiana needs to do two things:

1 fire glass
2. Make a sexy hire at head coach. You guys desperately need someone to shake things up. You need someone that has big time experience or is on the upswing. You should dump the money truck on Chris beard or someone more established.

1. Firing Glass isn’t going to make Archie coach differently
2. Archie was unanimously praised as the best hire at the time of his signing and find me a coach at the time who wasn’t on a greater upswing than Archie Miller? Took Dayton to 4 consecutive tournaments as an at-large. Dayton had only been to 4 tournaments prior since 1990.

Of course it won’t, but for positive change glass has to go. As for Archie, I still think he will get it right. Tjd is a nice building block towards that. If Archie can’t get things rolling in the next two years then it’s time for a change. Indiana needs someone that brings excitement to the school, and not an up and coming coach.

Archie has 1 more year to make the tournament or things aren't looking good. Another sh***y season this year and recruiting will continue to get worse, as we've seen already. They need to show some fire this year or the writing will be on the wall. I don't care what anyone says, you should never miss the tournament 3 straight years at Indiana, the program needs recruiting momentum bad right now.

I have no problem with IU going in a different direction if significant progress isn’t made by year 4. Good luck convincing a select few on here that think it’s entirely impossible for a coach to get better once he’s got a full roster of guys who recruited to play in his system. But I digress.

Who said IU should miss the tourney three years in a row? Lol

You missed the memo. If you are not complaining daily about Archie then you are ignoring the disappointment of missing the tourney in his 1st two seasons.

People that think Archie wasn't a good hire are fools. Those that think he should be fired now are fools. If this season goes into the tank we can start considering whether he should be fired. I have a lot of confidence that Archie is still the right coach for IU.

I have never understood the hatred for Glass. IU sports overall have been doing great and the facilities are all being upgraded and I think hiring Allen for football and Miller for basketball were great choices.

50-50 on Glass. On the surface he's done a great job in updating facilities and improving secondary sports. Don't think he's fully committed though, especially in football. Really needs to up the salary pool for the football assistants that IU cannot only lure but keep. But yes I don't stand the irrational hatred for Fred Glass. That opinion might change if Archie doesn't get things turned around in the next few years and hangs onto him too long like he did Crean, but there's nothing yet that remotely suggests Archie has plateaued. He's been here a minute.

I was never sold on Crean and think Glass should have fired him at least a year earlier so I see that as a negative for Glass. But overall I've liked what he's done at IU.

I will stand corrected, but I believe IU had stepped up dramatically with assistant coaches salaries, starting with Wilson and continuing with Allen. Are they OSU or UM level? Of course not. But I believe they're now competitive with most B1G schools.

Just as a reminder, Crean was a Greenspan hire, not a Glass hire. That said, in some people's eyes, Glass will never live down the Crean extension. Yes, he got caught up in the "We're Back!" frenzy, and got taken to the cleaners. Then cutting him loose before he did became a problem; early on the buyout was huge, and then in the last few years Crean always seemed to put together an over-achieving team. From any realistic perspective, it would have been hard to justify firing Crean any time before he was.
