Think I told this story before, but back in winter '18-19 I was standing outside Red Robin at the Mall waiting on wife and daughter. Was kinda just beginning one of those "lake snows"...big heavy flakes just barely starting to stick.
Looking down the entry road to the corner of 2nd and College Mall, and some purple Vette loops it taking a left hand turn from 2nd to College Mall, and slaps it into the light pole. Nothing dangerous. Not even sure the airbags deployed.
Asian kid steps out, survey's damage, and calls a buddy. Two mins later, some other kid pulls up, kid jumps in, and off they go.
I walk down, (having witnessed the accident) when the cop shows up. He's looking around for the owner and is like "WTF". Car is just sitting there against the pole on the sidewalk. I told him the dude just called a buddy and bolted, and he acted like it wasn't shocking. 😄
I've heard some of the apartment owners in town often have luxury cars just abandoned during the summer...and not just for the summer...but for good. Use them for the time they're in Bloomington, then just leave them like a rental car. 😄 Crazy.
