Quad 1 win!

Woodson is doing fine. He put together a pickup team around Trayce and Race to get to the tournament two years. Now he is developing his own team. Next year we will be good.

1: Cupps
2: Galloway, McNeeley
3: Mgbako, Leal
4: Reneau
5: Ware, Sparks
You're just trolling right now, aren't you? LOL

I mean, you're just assumming that everyone is coming back and adding McNeeley as a backup. So you just want to roll out the exact same team that's currently ranked 99th in the country right now and not making the tournament? Yikes!

The thing is…just run the team like he did the last 10 minutes…all the time…and he can be successful at IU. Demand that level of effort. Run that type of offense.

The main problem is we won’t consistently repeat it.
We've seen enough to know that won't happen. You can point to a few minutes every game of how IU could look if they played the right way on both ends. It will be exactly what keeps Woodson around. And that's not a good thing.

I’m not trolling. This will be a good team next year. The only reason it’s struggling is because we lost Xavier. Woodson failed by relying on Xavier without a contingency. Cupps is not ready.

Exactly ... fwiw, he ran the same damn offense, the difference is the desire, competency and understanding of the players running it ..plus defense and OSU mistakes had something to do with it ..
But mostly, as Mr. Barkley says, OSU is turrrrrible.

Is that you, Mrs Buckner?

X wasn't doing the offense any favors when he was back. The problems run much deeper. I'm glad we won last night, I can't get into the mindset of 'let's lose out and watch the kingdom crumble....yet again". But we beat a shitty OSU team and suddenly it's a bright sunny day.

Check back in after the trip to Mackey this weekend and let's talk about how great things are.

btw you do realize half of the players you mentioned on next year's great team will most likely not be anywhere near Bloomington IN by June 1 of this year....? Plus several on the bench that you didn't mention.

Developing us to a #99 ranking and the NIT.

NBA 1st rounder JHS was a pick-up team?

Let’s say Ware leaving and McNeely joining are offsets just for arguments sake. Next year is the same team plus whatever we scrap together in portal. Hard to see much change coming next year.

We have some optimistic fans.

Great they’ll win just enough games to save Woodson’s job, and the mediocrity and crap basketball will continue for another 2-3 seasons. Just take ‘em out back and end it already.
That’s a bad place for the mindset to be. It ages one prematurely. Have you looked in the mirror lately? I mean, really looked closely? It starts near the outer canthus of the eyes in what the Indians used to call “crow’s feet.” Maybe they still do.

Sometimes the truth hurts.

Was that you I overheard last holiday muttering “Bah, humbug!”? It was a snowy night in a dark alleyway, someone shuffling their feet with collar turned to the wind. If so, maybe you would enjoy listening to Roy Orbison’s rendition of “It’s Over”.

for maybe 6 more hours?? But hey, great effort. Galloway didn't win that one he might have just retired. He gave everything he had.
How is that a Quad 1 win when PSU didn't get a Q1 win by beating us?

You watch us play: you think there's any chance Mike Woodson is the next Jay Wright or Coach K? I think I support Woodson more than most, but the glaring lack of fundamentals is unacceptable, imo. And the roster construction. I'll bet in their 3rd years, even if they weren't winning, K and Wright's teams were playing smart and hard most of the time. I think Woody has done some really good things with the fanbase and scheduling and would like to see his time end amicably whenever that is, but I feel confident in saying he's not the guy that will get us back to competing regularly at the top of the B10 or nationally. Wish I felt otherwise.
Exactly how I feel. Hope like hell Woody wins and try not to trash him, but also don't think he will help us get where we want to me.

is there anything specific in my post to which you disagree? Other than the "Mrs Buckner" reference, since I'm (fairly) sure I was not responding to Mrs Buckner (I don't even know if Quinn is married...nor care).

And love the RO reference...man had one of the smoothest voices in human history. But I prefer "Cryin", "You got it", and anything he did with the Traveling Wilburys

I agree with everything you said and found it quite depressing coming on the heels of our best win of the season. My post game high was short-lived.

I’ve always like ballads in general and Roy was a master at them. He could sing falsetto without his lips hardly moving. Grab your man sac and try it sometime - it ain’t easy, as Ringo Starr might try to tell you.

Because they beat Alabama--a far better win than any of IU's. Moreover, they handled the low/mid majors quite easily for the most part, whereas the Hoosiers squeaked by the likes of FGCU, Army, Wright State, and Morehead State.
But we've already beaten them. These ratings are very suspect.

It's telling that our best win of the season was over a then 3-8 Ohio State team that was on a 4-game B1G losing streak. LOL

It's good for IU to get a win, especially on the road, but...

Just in case….opinions don’t matter.

Quadrant one wins are those home games vs. teams RPI ranked 1-30, neutral games vs. 1-50, and away games vs. 1–75. For example, a home win against a top 30 team would qualify as a quadrant one victory.

Our best win of the season is yet to come. Ohio State has now lost 8 of their last 9 games. It’s not so much that we beat this team as much as it is how we beat them. Ohio State fans must be beside themself after that yin yang defeat. Just about the time they’re settled into their seats for an angst-free, relaxing win, IU starts to slowly chip away at their 18 pt deficit at the 16 min mark and you know what, there wasn’t a damn thing they could do about it.

I slept well last night. How about you?

Did you happen to get a peek at the arena? Lots of OSu fans came dressed as empty seats. Doesn’t look like too many of them are beside themselves.

My buddy was at the game. I said "it looks like it's about 3/4 full there on TV." He said, "Yeah more like 1/2 full. The new AD has his first task right here."

Go to Carmichael. Probably my favorite venue to be in empty. Really, really cool. Their women play there, so if you're in NC (are you? where? I live in Rock Hill outside of Charlotte but didn't recall that you were down here) go see them. Their women are pretty good too, but it's a very cool arena to be in empty and gorgeous how it's nestled down in campus. I was doing a project on campus many years ago and wandered over there, with no one but a couple other kids in the building shooting. Walked all around and even convinced the kids to let me take a couple shots.
Live in Raleigh and daughter goes to UNC. Will check it out. Sounds cool.

I don't know how @cshartle123 sees good things this year. It's terrible. This IU team isn't on the cusp of being good. It's the worst IU team in the last decade.

I wouldn't point this out, but most of you have already realized what this team is and who Woodson is.

However, those still holding out hope and are part of the "we're close, just wait until next year" crowd needs to realize where IU is now compared to the CAM and CTC years.

Woodson will get another year just because IU doesn't want to be seen as not giving one of their own a fair shot. But he's done about as poor of a job with roster construction as I've ever seen.

CTC didn't have the benefit of NIL and the transfer portal when he took over, so he has valid excuses for his first disasters, but Woodson either a) can't recruit an adequate roster of his own; b) doesn't know how to recruit an effective roster; or c) can't develop a roster from existing players.

None of those options are good. IU needs to move on ASAP, but unfortunately for IU fans, I think it will be more mediocre results before it can.

Vividly. And those same whiners also wanted Chris Mack. Several also spoke glowinginly of Juwan Howard too.

Not to mention all the whiners that repeatedly said we'd be sooooo much better if we'd just fire Crean and hire Archie Miller.

Now they've moved on to the next shiny new toy: the Chris Beard/Dusty May/ISU's coach combo platter. All IU has to do is PICK ONE. durrrrrr. IU is incompetent! Durrrr. Fire Quinn Buckner! Durrrrrr. Investigate his Financials!!! Durrrrrr. There has to be something going on here! Durrrr. It's easy to win at IU if you just hire the right guy! Durrr.

They want the next Jay Wright or coach K, but are unwilling to give them the kind of time it took those guys to build the program they admire so much.
I am a fan of Beard’s results on the floor and his style of play.

Yea. This is our worst team since the Crean rebuild, and given we have three 5*'s, that makes it worse than those teams. Also, during the Crean rebuild we had Cody coming in and what we **thought** was a very good 2012 class. Right now we have one commit.

You're sitting pretty as a Purdue fan. Just have to hope we don't make a good hire that can take advantage of IU's resources. I have to say it's not too likely given our track record.

Great. As soon as we have an opening, I'd love to hear why we should pursue him. Heck, to be honest, after the season it's fine to have some discussions about retention.

But ad-nauseum recitations, every day, 15 times a day, from the same shiny new toy crew that wouldnt shut up about firing Crean, and then Miller, and now Woodson, just so we can go through it all again in another three years is stupid. Especially in February, since IU is obviously not firing Woodson in the middle of the season and probably isn't firing him at the end of the season either.

Nothing pisses me off more than being forced to agree with a PU nerd. Thanks a lot.

14 months isn't a very long time to fall from 8 to 100. Damn.
