Purdue Loses Exhibition

Help me clean out those cobwebs:

I saw this movie at the theater a couple of doors from the Trojan horse, back in 1987. IIRC it was the Indiana theater, and it was shortly after I’d watched us in the 1987 NC game, just down the street (In the hump room at Nicks- now closed). I believe it was the world premier of the movie and Angelo Pizzo introduced the movie? 🍿????????
Yes but the Hump Room closed? I was up there in June

Hmmm, I thought it’s been closed for a while. Last I was there was for little 500 weekend, and we were in the attic but the HR was closed. Either way I’m too old and not cool enough to go into the new Nicks part. VBG

Hump room was open in May when we were down for a baseball weekend.

Great advice Karen. Last I checked this was an IU forum
Haha! What? You are the only one here complaining yet you're calling others Karen? Sounds logical. In either case, stay mad. I am going to keep making posts mocking PU just to see you cry more. Toughen up, Francis.

That movie was based on Milan HS but had a lot of IU people involved in front of and behind the cameras, hell it was written by an IU grad and fan. Took a lot from IU culture including actually winning a championship. It triggers the PU folks...a lot.
My lifelong PU buddy has never watched Hoosiers. He never will. I’ve never seen him wear anything red. The color red triggers him as it does a taunted bull.

I also remember all of that. Cars were stopped on Walnut headed north. People were on the car hoods and roofs and jumping from car to car.
I was seen turning cartwheels on my folk’s front lawn in Indy after Smart’s shot tickled the net. I haven’t attempted one since that glorious night in ‘87.

More likely an ass beating by a double digit seed mid major occurs.
Ass whooping is what happened to IU the last 3 seasons, last games of those 3 seasons IU lost bye an average of 24 butt smackers! In the last 10 years IU has only showed up 4 times in the tournament, Purdue was 9 out of 10. It is really hard to lose in the NCAA tournament when your not invited! Your the definition of Ass beating. And with that fairy land schedule of all those mid majors you have scheduled this year at HOME, you might be ripe for a beaten.
Does Woody lead the country in double digit beatens for power 5 teams? IU has something like over twenty since he showed up. You know that FDU has had the same amount of tournament wins as IU in the last three years.

Passing a literacy test should be a requirement before posting privileges are granted.

I "Pressed One for English" twice and still got this mess.

Purdue lost last year to Arkansas on the road in an exhibition
The Arkansas team that had multiple injury issues where key rotation players combined for a total of 33 missed conference games? There's a reason they missed the tourney dumbass.

Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son. #16. Long live Troy Walters!

I'm sure they'll be fine. Smith went off. Loyer and TKR were solid. That is an early answer to some of their question marks.

Its just a strange thing to mail it in, however they want to explain it... in such a unique and potentially beneficial environment.
They have a bigger problem if they packed their bags and traveled to play and didn't come to win. It wouldn't matter to me if the game counted or not. I would do everything to win the game while learning about players and player rotations.

Yes they have and no doubt that was a very good period. It was also 37, 43 and 48 years ago. You do realize this correct? Not a IU grad under 55 has experienced that good fortune . Let's cut the BS. IU was a wonderful program back in the day but that's a long time ago.

Reality. Program hasn't made the NCAA tournament 6 of the last 8 years. Has that been enjoyable? How many different coaches since Knight left? They will improve nobody doubts that but Purdue basketball in the last 18 years has yielded how more wins than it's rival? The creative wonderful witty posters here will bring up the brutal losses(Farleigh) but that's history like your championships. Thing is under your recent "watch" this fanbase hasn't enjoyed watching a winning program. Wins in November, December, January, February are extremely enjoyable as a fan when your program comes out on top and no comparison whatsoever between the two schools. B10 championships still resonate importance around here? Guess what they do and this fanbase would be delirious to experience but haven't in a long time.

We both know(and you are extremely aware of it), that the shortsighted culture smack is crap.
You seem bitter

@Boilermaker03 skoffs at this post. Interesting because both Stephen A and Jay Bilas had the exact same reaction that I did real time. Sorry to make 03 mad.
Who care's who said what real time. Go back and watch the video and you will see that they were WRONG. Did Carson kick out a little? Yes, but that doesn't matter because the Tennessee player ran into Carsen's hip.

I said it real time, Stephen A and Bilas said so after the game. But do prattle on trollboi...

Actually it based on more than one. Pizzo was at a speaking engagement and said it was about that 66 Unionville squad as much as Milan. He was friends with Bobby Kent. He was in the stands when Lynn Stevens hit that last second shot to beat #1 Bloomington South. Most of the surnames in the movie was a nod to Unionville too. (Chitwood and Fleener are two) he said the Milan story was too boring. 😝

That theater is still active today, reopening in 1999 as the Buskirk-Chumley, after a local couple donated $3 million.
