Props to Purdue.

I dont like them. But they play with the effort and toughness that I wish Indiana had.
They did play together really well. Which shows just how the dysfunction that was in Bloomington hurt the on-court performance. Been some interesting info floating around today on the internal issues.

Most of you guys are probably too young, don't remember, out of touch, out of the loop, etc....Those of us 45 and older, all know IU and Purdue were the big dogs of the Big10 in basketball back in the late 70's and all of the 80's. That's the way it should be, but unfortunately isn't now. There's no need to hate or denigrate Purdue. The older you get, the more you might understand. Our fanbase wants to "win the right way" lol, and trash every program along the way while we struggle to even sniff the tourney. Right now IU is in complete freefall led by clueless and greedy minions leading us to Illinois and Rutgers bottom feeder levels. This is the current state and won't change unless big moves are made at the top. The gripe and everything of the like, needs to be to get Glass out of here. He has to go now.

since nothing was said by anyone, i'll assume it's not over and back for some reason on the tip back of the missed free throw.

Nope,a tip like that does not constitute possession.
It would have been legal on a missed field goal shot as well.
The key is it must be a tip,if you have actual possession of the ball it would be over and back.

Playing together is a little easier when you have a couple of guys hitting 3 pointers from 5 feet beyond the line. That makes the coach look like a genius and the team look like they playing hard.

I'm one of the older guys who remember those days. It is one thing to have a heated rivalry between two schools, with a degree of respect for each other, as opposed to what we see so often today - people with all out hatred for an opponent with a total lack of respect for the achievements of the opponent. If you asked the players, I'm sure they would tell you that they have respect for the opposing players and strive to be better than the opponent.

I think part of this is generational. When I grew up you were taught to play hard, and respect your opponent, the Officials, and the game, Now we have the me too generation that is taught trash talk and one - upmanship. This is why you see some showboat make a dunk with two minutes left in a game with his team down by thirty five, scream and beat his chest like he is Tarzan, when he and his teammates spent the previous 38 minutes playing like Jane, accounting for the 35 point deficit.

The other aspect is the internet. Every two beer drunk who had any association with a school can get on a board like this while sitting in his underwear in his man cave or parent's basement and put out any thought he wants. Most of these people never played a sport beyond Junior High School and have no idea about the commitment, time, effort, and work it takes to be a successful athlete at any level. It's easy to anonymously type something into you computer that you think is brilliant and insightful when you are only showing us your degree of ignorance and stupidity with respect to the subject at hand.

BS. Purdue is the all time greatest NCAA tourney choke artist and have been since the inception of the tournament. I prefer to keep it that way. Whether iu has a great season or sucks balls like recent years, it's ok to have a moment of happiness each year that the boilers continue their tradition.

I’m glad Purdue lost but holy crap if I was a Purdue fan I’d lock myself indoors for the next month. I almost felt bad cheering for Virginia in overtime after that scramble, probably because I could relate to it as an IU fan

I can’t stand Purdue like most other true Hoosiers. However, you have to give them credit for what they’ve done this year. Pretty good coaching job by Painter. The team played together and overachieved (IMO). They’ve had two coaches in 39 years, 3 sweet 16’s and an Elite 8 in the last 3 years, and a B10 co-championship. I’d be pretty ok with that right now.

Meanwhile, we’ve had 5 coaches in 19 years and a lack of consistency. Thanks Myles and all who followed.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for the way Purdue plays and the kids they recruit.
I was rooting for them as hard as Ive ever rooted for a non IU team...atleast since the great Butler teams.
I like Hoosier basketball...which is good basketball..and unfortunately IU hasnt played it in quite some time.

I watch all levels of basketball including womens...and IU was probably the least impressive in almost every way of any team I saw all year.

Purdue had a great year (one of their best ever) and they deserve kudos for that. I suppose I can respect them and wish them success due to their affiliation with the Big Ten Conference. However, my level of respect for Purdue is limited due to my perception that it would most likely not be reciprocated should the record/season finishes have been reversed (cue the "IU Sucks" chant).

Yes, the high road certainly exhibits better sportsmanship too. I'm not sure I'm a bitter fan but no doubt I'm very disappointed in the way the IU basketball season played out this year.

And a thread about the Purdue game turns into another psychotic treatise on Glass. And then you added lessons on being a fan. Douchetastic!

I don’t know if glass is good or bad but I do know an unhealthy obsession when I see one. Holy shit. The dude hired a good young b-ball coach and traded a 6 win football coach who was a dick for a 5 win football coach. And keep in mind we are talking IU football. Lol. Sure, he extended Crean but he was on a good run and most thought we had turned the corner. Or is this another case where all you psychos had huge reservations but decided to tell no one? Lol

So emotional...

Purdue played the kind of ball that I wish IU would play...
I have a lot of respect for the job Matt Painter does and his teams play the game the way I like to see it played. Carsen Edwards' effort last night and in the entire tournament has been one of the best efforts I've ever seen.

That said, ninety percent of the Purdue fans I know are obsessed with IU and are overbearing assholes when the Boilers have any level of success. Going to work tomorrow knowing I won't have to endure their nonsense is making Monday a lot more bearable for me. I won't give them grief about losing, because obviously I would trade them seasons in a heartbeat. OTOH, they won't be gloating because they know I'll burn them about their history of mediocrity in the NCAAT if they do. So we'll be cordial and I'll be complimentary toward them and all will be good. And the most obnoxious among them won't come near me because she avoids me at all costs when Purdue loses. If they were in the final four, I'd have to listen to a week of their chirping, and my resolve to never hit a woman would be sorely tested.

I would love to be able to root for a coach and a team of players I really admire. But just the thought of dealing with their obnoxious fans leaves me cheering against them every game. I know it's petty, but my life is much more peaceful when Purdue loses.

And Purdue has still never won.
PU is good but never great.

I think after Painter's comments on Senior Day, the paint crew will get rid of the IU sucks chant. Never thought I'd agree with him but I'm getting older so I'm alright with replacing it with something else. I kinda hope that chant goes away as fun as it was during my college years.

Bitter old man living in the past.

Your most recent Choke Job was two days ago. That's hardly the distant past.

Go spin it on your own board.

Be careful not to catch that ring end of your Choker chain on anything on the way out...

I always thought it odd that it went on at games where Purdue wasn't playing IU . Looks like IU was living rent-free in the students heads for most of the season.

Not true. Sure you have the morons that chant that crap, but then there are those that are much like you. Both fan bases have their ass hats, as some here have displayed. I tend to believe that MOST fans of every school tend to be good people.
