It’s not unusual for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs to talk to his counterpart in another country on occasion for various reasons including to maintain peaceful relations between our militaries.
Given the state of the not so Secret Service he may have actually done him a major favor... 😉😎🍺🇺🇸
Private Security is by far the safer bet... The Secret Service mess won't be able to be straightened out for a good 18 months, in my opinion...

You talked about the shattered trust and respect in the .gov, then mentioned the Oath Keepers as an example. I asked the question wondering if there was any trust or respect prior. Isn't the general lack of trust and respect the reason the Oath Keepers came into existence?

I would hope that private security wouldn't have access to the same kind of intelligence that his gov't provided security would have. That would put them at a disadvantage.
I'm old enough to remember the general kidnapped in Italy by the Red Brigades. The idea of a US Military leader killed, wounded, kidnapped, etc... on US soil after his security detail was removed would be a shitshow.
He didn’t. We weren’t planning to attack China and intel indicated that they thought we were. Assuring his counterpart that we weren’t going to attack them is the right thing to do. Deescalating to prevent war is exactly what SecDefs and Chairmen do with their counterparts. He coordinated the call with the SecDef too. Now, if we did plan a secret attack in China, that would be an actual problem if he told them we were planning to do that. We weren’t and he didn’t.
I know Trump made a big deal about the call which caused MAGA world to think it was a big deal, but it really wasn’t. The real issue is President Trump’s rhetoric and seemingly chaotic behavior caused China’s military leadership to think we were planning to attack them. I’m hopeful that doesn’t happen during this term. We have potential for conflict between US and Chinese warships in the South China Sea and always between China and Taiwan. Rest assured out top military brass will have discussions with counterparts to keep and situations from escalating.

No one under Secret Service protection is replacing that with private security for a very good reason. No one is better at providing protection than the Secret Service.

I would hope that any security detail would assume that their principle would be under serious threat of attack at All Times...
I'm certain that if the US Intelligence apparatus had direct knowledge of an imminent threat, with specifics, that they'd pass that information on to the individual threatened and augment their security "as needed"... if requested...; Or if that information would give up "methods and sources" the Intell agencies could act independently against the threat...
There's plenty of rank and file US servicemen and women who have been threatened by those they faced overseas who don't get 24/7 security and have to provide for themselves... There's no good reason why the guys putting them in harms way shouldn't have to play by the same rules and deal with the same reality..
He can hire his own. His Military Industrial Complex BOD jobs pay him plenty.
Now turn this around and watch it happen to those that are considered loyal to Trump.
The pendulum swings both ways and you're just making it more difficult to get the people you need due to fear of retribution.
Our military industry isn’t big enough. We don’t have half the shipbuilding capacity of China. Their Navy fleet is growing while ours is shrinking. Secretary Hegseth said we need to fix this. He’s right.

You wanna strip Fauci of protection, I'm OK with that. But when you start stripping military leaders after millions of unknown military aged males have flooded across the border in the last 4 years, you're gonna invite problems and those problems will only get worse.

Humor me then....what was your point again...are you saying all these military-aged illegals will exact retribution upon Trump-era officials, because someone will take away their security someday..? .so that justifies the US Taxpayer spending $1.5million(borrowed)annually for Fauci to be chauffeured around by a 3-man, 24 hour federal security team?

be able to handle yourself personally.
