Newsome wasn't on the itinerary, so he stood at the bottom of the stairs and waited for Trump. A Newsome aid came over and said something. A few moments later, Trump and FLOTUS came down the stairs. Quite the scene that could have unfolded.

Taking this out of context, but I wish someone would too as it relates to his claims in LA that "we're gonna override the permitting". Those aren't federal regs. He can't do shit about local and state laws and regulations such as that.

has developed the best natural disaster playbook of any governor, probably ever. They really don’t need Feds help.
Western North Carolina is different. They don’t get those kinds of storms and they weren’t ready. Still, FEMA failed to help.
California. Much like Florida, this disaster was foreseeable. Actually. Trump himself was proclaiming exactly how foreseeable it was. For years. They failed to prepare. And I will not countenance throwing good money after bad. They must commit to reforms before the federal faucet is turned on.
Those two things aren't mutually exclusive. At least California contributes to the bottom line unlike the perennial net suck states like West Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, etc. Red states that are a mess on everything from healthcare, educational attainment, upward mobility, life expectancy, etc.
If you think I think California should be subsidizing those states then you are talking to the wrong cat
