OSU...low key HUGE game??

Nah... seeing Indiana's name on selection Sunday again is what I want. And then the anticipation waiting for their first NCAA tournament game. It makes filling out brackets more fun. It makes watching and listening to pundits talk about the tournament more interesting. In short, it makes one of the more incredible sports experiences, even better.

No matter the attached implications, I'd always prefer IU make the tournament over not. And since we know we're headed for a new coach very soon after the season is over, whether thats after an NCAA tournament run, or after a BTT game loss... I choose NCAA tournament run.
I don't think anyone does not want the players to make the NCAA they just really dislike woodson and his arrogance after four years of it. His entitlement attitude just got old really fast.

It is honestly kind of what he deserves given his time here and how he has treated this job.
The sooner it ends, the better. Lose to OSU, then lose in the 1st Rd of the BTT. The end. I don't care if IU makes the tourney; it's not like the Hoosiers would make a run.

I've said it since the Bahamas (probably even sooner): This season needed to be a failure so IU could cleanse itself of shitty coaches and reset. I've been willing to temporarily suspend my fandom because I know the future of IU hoops is FAR more important than one Woody-led season.

Bigfoot is history, so my wish has already been granted ... but I still want to see him (and, by extension, Quinn) fall flat on his face. Mean-spirited of me? Perhaps. Justifiable thought process? Absolutely. Treat the program like shit, expect the same in return ... MF.

Go to Bourbon...Woodford or Angel's Envy...

I'll probably drink either way, truthfully...it'll just be what mood I'm in.

I don't really have a "special occasion" expensive Whiskey. Fortaleza Still Strength Tequila if they both win maybe!!
Woodford Double Oaked . Or keep draining that 1.75 of Makers that I pick up from Costco every month .

Next coach could very well have a couple/few weeks left in his own season...lets enjoy some IU basketball during that time too.

as much as I hate to admit it, I'm sort of in that frame of mind. The OSU game seems "huge" but honestly, it a month...it won't matter. I don't see this team getting past the first tourney weekend. Biggest deal right now is the new coach announcement and future direction. This has been a very frustrating season. Not sure how much I care about extending it, as we're about to close this chapter and start a new one. If we lose to OSU, pretty sure most everyone will feel that way.

I think alot of people agree with you. After what woodson and quinn have done to the program the last four years it is very hard to root for them to have any sort of success at this point. Quinn especially deserves to fall on his face as this whole thing was made possible because of him.

Is there a good reason trey and leak would speak again on senior night having already done so last year?
Looks like they both get another crack at telling the fans to chill.

Alec Lasley -
Per IU’s game notes: Trey Galloway, Anthony Leal, Luke Goode, Oumar Ballo, Langdon Hatton, Jaden Bobbett, Shaan Burke and Jackson Creel will go through Senior Day festivities following the game tomorrow.

The chill 2.0

I REALLY hope Luke gets two of them then, somehow.

Not only that but if rumors were true he was not happy in the least about not being promised a 5th year. Rumor was he was going to quit on the spot. My guess is he is very bitter and bitter people often speak their minds. I am sure he would like to tell us all how crazy we are in our expectations and he did his job blah blah blah.

But there is probably language in his seperation agreement that will cost him money if he goes rogue. But once he is gone I am guessing he will go full blown rogue on the fans.
Guaranteed he ain't worried about a separation agreement. You really think this administration would take a former player alumnus and black man to court to deny him his money because he ran his mouth on senior day? Woody knows darn well they wouldn't do jack.

You are probably right. Be interesting to see if he and his two "chill boys" let us all have it. But if he wants to run his mouth so be it that will be the lasting impression people have of him.

this dude has some serious issues, bitch bitch bitch, wtf is wrong with you

Now that Woody is gone, who wouldn’t want to make the tourney? Especially for Leal and Trey, the kids that stuck around, I’d certainly be pulling for them.
I mean stuck around makes it sound like they stayed because they loved IU so much they put everything on hold including starting a job to make money. Last I heard they both got paid at least 400k and double or more what they got the year before. Money certainly is a big reason they stuck around.

Agree, but that doesn't make it "huge". It's very far from huge. It's not even low key huge.

i'm going to game but will not be staying for their speeches. i'm not chill nor into runnin' it back
I certainly would not stay. I have no connection to any of those guys since they are all woodson guys and the stuff they said last year. I used to watch all the speeches but not under woodson.

When Woody and the Mercenaries were in the midst of the losing streak I thought, If this continues, they might cancel Senior Day festivities to avoid a "scene." Hell, Dolson "retired" Bigfoot when he did so fans wouldn't hurt MW's feelings with "We want Dusty" chants.

I think the king had one day hoped his last game would be the day they dedicated the statue of him outside of assembly hall.

“I take a season one game at a time, one practice at a time. Yes, we’ve got goals,” Woodson said on Thursday. “I came back here to win Big Ten titles and a national title. That’s all I want. I’m not going to push the team in any other direction. If they’re scared of that challenge, then they shouldn’t be here.”
He's been FOS since Day 1.

The fact he was asking about a 5th year just shows how delusional and out of touch he is. His big ten record in 40-39 and he is asking about getting a 5th year after claiming he was here to win NCAA titles? They bent over backwards for him this year with the NIL to do everything possible to help him win and he still failed.

For most of the fan base, Woody's IU legacy will only be that of a failed coach and entitled motherf.......... I'll go with "brat" instead for this post just to mix things up a bit.

Yep pretty much just that. I never saw him play so his playing really means nothing to me. I saw Calbert play and it was alot of fun but it was a long time ago and certainly does not mean I want him being the coach at IU. Living in the past is pointless honestly when you are trying to win in the present. Thats why I could care less if they put the names on the jerseys or changed the warmups. The only time we were good in those was over 30 years ago.

If Quinn is anywhere near this search, there is no god.

Rooting for IU to lose out and miss the tournament is F'd up...

There have been five 11-seeds that have made the Final Four (LSU in '86, George Mason in '06, VCU in '11, Loyola in '18, and UCLA in '21). We have a very talented team who could make a run. Yup, best fans in the country...

Holy shit, guy....

100% tournament game for us, blow this one at home we would have to at a minimum get to the semis in the BIG and possibly the championship game, which isn't going to happen. win Tomm I don't think the 8/9 game vs Oregon even matters.
If we play Oregon again, you may be the only one that thinks it doesn't matter.

They hammered us every time we got close to the basket in the last game. Even if the refs did in fact call that game fairly, we have a lot of players that remember how aggressively Oregon played. Surely, we have some guys who remember that and didn't like it.

Nobody ever said there was not talent on this team but with the current coach this team isn't making any run except maybe to the bathroom. He will get totally owned in the tourney by the SEC guards if he can somehow win a game or two. Though I think winning one game would be his ceiling.

Then I'm f'ed up. Quinn and Woody have treated the program like some sort of retirement gig, so they don't deserve any rah-rah. I feel sorry for players who actually came here for IU instead of Benjamins, but the Bigfoot Brigade can kick rocks.

As for some Cinderella run, that's not happening. IU's players might be individually talented, but they're not consistently talented as a unit. Moreover, Woody's results against quality non-con teams have been abysmal.

Bring on '25-'26.

That's pathetic. Really sad.

Fans remember how crappy OSU's Troy Taylor undercut IU players back in the day, causing them to land on their backs during a layup. OSU is arrogant and contemptible to all teams, not just Michigan and not just in football.

And yet you hate IU more than OSU.

Like I just said he maybe can win one game in the NCAA but the NCAA tourney is won with guards. Any SEC team would rock him and he would end up facing a very good team in the round of 32. Look at his last two outing he got totally destroyed.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion. What I find sad and pathetic is rooting for a guy who's shit on this program since 2021. I've bled cream and crimson since birth ... but in no way does Woody the coach represent the IU I've always known and loved.

Have fun hoping like hell for Dayton. I'll see you in October when IU is led by a decent human being who can actually coach.

We’re not rooting for Woody, we’re rooting for IU. IU is bigger than its coach, bigger than its current players. Most of us understand that if we win in March, it’ll be in spite of him, not because of him.

And as for your "Cinderella run isn’t happening" take? Give me a break. March is all about getting hot at the right time, not having a perfect regular-season resume. You have no clue who we’ll be matched up against, which low seeds might get knocked out in our bracket, or how the chaos of March Madness will unfold. The tournament is unpredictable, that’s the whole point.

Anything is possible but does that mean there is even a small chance of it happening. Probably not. Nothing in the past four years shows Woodson is capable of getting hot and running off three or four wins vs very good teams. Sure he has had a few runs in the big ten but it was usually vs not great teams. At best he will get a 10 seed imo so by the 2nd round he would be playing teams like St. Johns or Texas Tech. Coaching will certainly come into play and I would love to try and see his outcoach Pitino. Very unlikely.

It’s a special game. The last home game…the last game of this angst-ridden season culminates on Saturday. Making it extra special is the tournament ramifications for both teams, not only regarding getting a bid, but its affect on seeding in the BTT. Add in Woodson’s final statement in Assembly Hall, literally and figuratively, and it makes for a memorable game, regardless of outcome. Fans are anxious about the coaching change. It’s too wide open for comfort. Get on with it and just win it because it’s IU!
