From the article:
“A commemoration marking the 80th anniversary of Iwo Jima has been overshadowed by the removal of the battle’s most iconic image from the Pentagon’s website.
The photograph, of six war-weary marines hoisting the US flag on Mount Suribachi, was deleted this month on the orders of Pete Hegseth, the US defence secretary, in an effort to erase all traces of the previous administration’s policy of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
The offending element was not the flag itself, but a description focusing on Ira Hayes, a Pima Indian and one of the six soldiers.”

That is a bizarre and heartbreaking story.Wife mourns again: Hatchet attack in Tucson follows son’s death
The wife of the man attacked with a hatchet at a bus stop in downtown Tucson is sharing her story.www.kold.com
Read the background of the couple. What the hell was going on there?
Guy is 32. He and his wife, unemployed, were spending "several months" in L.A. to mourn the loss of a stillborn child, while their two teenage kids (oldest is 15) were home in Alabama? And then they were "on their way home" to Alabama, and ended up sitting at a bus stop in Tucson? WTF (I'm not saying they deserved this tragedy, I'm just wondering what was going on with them from this description). From the article:What do you mean?
This sounds really, really dangerous. Has anyone been hurt or killed as a result of this stuff? In iRacing during an open practice session, check your goddamn relative for oncoming traffic before driving out of the pits. Nothing burns me more than some jackoff lumbering out of the pit lane on cold tires and meandering right onto the racing line when I'm just starting a hot lap. A best I have to lift and abort the lap, at worst I actually need to veer off line to avoid your stupid ass. I get it. There's nothing in the official iRacing Sporting Code that says you can't do this, but JFC do you need an official document telling you not to be a dipshit? Would you drive off a highway off-ramp onto the interstate without looking for someone approaching at speed. Don't be an asshole.

Kristen and her husband Jacob Couch have spent the last several months in Los Angeles, grieving and processing the loss of their son Brooks who was stillborn in May 2024.
“It was just a very intimate thing losing our son,” Kristen Couch said.
The couple was heading back home to the small town of Arab, Alabama to be with their daughters 15-year-old Ella and 13-year-old Gracyen.
“We were coming home because we just couldn’t get it together like we just needed our family,” Kristen said.
But a detour to downtown Tucson would turn Kristen’s world upside down, again.
“I’m still in shock,” she said.
According to Pima County court documents, Jacob and Kristen were sitting on a bus bench on the corner of 6th and Broadway when an unknown man approached them and yelled at them.
. . .
Kristen says Jacob was between jobs and did not have any life insurance at the time of the incident.
I stopped reading the bad stuff. Saw a cheetah make off with a dog on instagram and vowed I’m donenow that is a unique story… @mcmurtry66 they could make a documentary and get rich on all of it…
Two kids before 21, a long gap? A still born? Hacked to shreds by a deranged man at a bus stop?
Spending dollar bills they don’t have in LA. Trying out for movie roles… American idol…
My mind is lost trying to understand
