Defense definitely does NOT win championships.

We're the best defensive team in the league right now and our happy a$$es are sitting at ninth in the conference...nowhere near winning a championship.

For the seven-thousandth time, and for the love of Tom Crean...Woody...go find someone who can score the damned basketball.

I think the biggest issue is SF. Look, Miller Kopp is a guy a good team has deep on their bench. He is a severe defensive liability, has no ability to dribble let alone create his own shot. Then when it comes to the 'best' part of him, shooting, he is slightly above 'meh'. All of the good teams have a really good, and often times versatile SF. To put it simply, he ain't it!

Our defense is #1 in the B1G WITH HIM, imagine what they would be with someone who could play defense at the 3. Jordan, for all his learning curve flaws, gives us much more of what we need. The lie we tell ourselves is we give up a perimeter shooter but if he and Kopp shot 100 times, Kopp would make 7 more. Meanwhile in half the amount of playing time Geronimo has more rebounds, twice as many blocks and equal in steals. Not to mention Jordan shoots 51.7% FG vs. Kopps 36.5% and plays like he cares about the outcome.

Woody needs to move on from Kopp in the starting lineup.

I think I read or heard somewhere that Stewart and Kopp are like 9th and 10th on the team in offensive efficiency. They both bring very little to the offense. And while both give good effort on defense, neither are what I would call great defensive players.

IMO Galloway and Robs injuries hurt this teams growth. Galloway probably starts much sooner in the year and the rest of the year without injuries. Rob was a big part of our winning time lineup prior to his injury. How different would we look? Hard to tell, but pretty sure we find a few more wins minimum with both healthy all year.

Long term we must find offensive playmakers who can play defense. Hopefully Bates and Geronimo develop into that but Woodson has a tall task to remake this roster.

I agree. When I saw Rob and X out there at the same time I actually liked it. We're undersized but have better on the ball defense and of course good ball control. A guy like Stewart who isn't creating his own shot needs to be an all out hustle man (ala Reggie Miller) to create space and get open. He doesn't do that so you have a Matt Roth instead.

I expect a decommitment.
Well, if he’s that big a pnssy who doesn’t think he can improve our team then, fine, let him go somewhere else, I’ve got no argument with you there. The worst that could happen is he plays for one year while scouting other teams he can cherry pick from the following year.

Geronimo is ready, but he's playing behind Race, not Kopp.

I highly doubt Miller is a starter next year.

I don’t know why people think JG is a 3. He played the 3 when the suspensions happened because he had to and it wasn’t pretty. If wants to be a Pro one day he will eventually have to become a 3.

Galloway can’t hit from deep. That hurts us. Especially at the 3. If he’s a starter we won’t be any better next year. Sure he’s a great defender and energy guy but the shooting is so bad.

Geronimo's success is critical to Woodson's future recruiting. It's one thing to talk up your NBA coaching experience. It's another thing to actually put players into the NBA. To be honest, I thought Geronimo would be farther along at this point. He has to make a big jump next year (it is encouraging he wasn't part of the group that snuck out in Chicago).

It does hurt and hopefully he improves some on it. But lets just say for the sake of argument that X comes back and continues to shoot 38% from 3, Bates starts and shoots in the upper 30s from 3 (I think most of us believe him capable of that), and we have a 4 (Geronimo) who shoots mid 30s from 3. I know we are speaking hypothetically here, but if that were to happen then Galloway will have lots of room to drive and create for others and it’s not as big a deal if he only shoots 30%. My argument is the team must grow together. Is it a long shot? Perhaps. But I believe it can happen.

I'd really like to see the entire roster go away except Bates, Lander, and Geronimo. There's still hope for them as a possible starter or solid role player. The bottom line is, everybody else is wasting our and their time. Immediately pair them with what we have coming and let them grow from losing next year if we're going to be no good anyway
