OK lefties . . .

What do you mean by "accessing unheard of power." Be specific. I've read this in opinion pieces but don't know what it refers to.
They were given admin access to to databases on government employees. That would include health info, social security numbers, etc. they would not need that to just look at performance reviews.

They have emailed sensitive data unencrypted. I have not seen if the person has been fired or sanctioned.

The guy that was fired, then rehired, for racist posts had write permissions on sensitive servers that the White House said did not have write.

Ready, fire, aim allows people to screw up. Either accidentally releasing critical data, or intentionally. Either way, wouldn't Musk have responsibility? If he were this super genius, shouldn't this be carried out with a plan and safeguards?

If Aloha accidentally emailed critical data, he would have been sanctioned. If he oversaw people having the wrong access, emailing sensitive data, etc, it would have reflected on his management of employees

Musk threatens to sue everyone. He threatened to sue corporations that stopped advertising on Twitter. That is crazy stuff. Why assume he needs no safeguards?

Why in the hell would we suddenly become so cavalier about protecting sensitive personnel data? The government is already paying millions for identity protection services, every year, for former and current military workers whose personnel data was accessed via breaches (hacks) of the VA and OPM personnel systems. This is like the whole nine yards of data, bank and financial accounts, TSP accounts, home addresses, spouse and children information. Everything. What possible reason is there to give this data to DOGE whiz kids?
Here's an article from last month. It posits the biggest problem with DOGE's activities as the breaking of internal rules designed to protect the data from theft by hackers (not Musk). Is this the type of thing you are worried about?

Verify what? That Musk isn't stealing data? The same way they do for every other federal employee who has access to similar data, I guess.

How would you respond to someone asking you: please verify you didn't steal something from work today?
Where's the DOGE organizational chart? What's the chain of command? What's the job title, job description and grade of every DOGE employee? Where are their resumes, conflict of interest waivers and any NDAs that they signed? Where is the detailed itemization of documents they've accessed that include sensitive information? Where's the evidence that staffers were trained on how to handle such information? Where's the detailed record of what they're doing every day? You know, the kind of information Musk and DOGE were demanding from federal employees before they fired them? Is the DOGE team using AI on the data it has collected and, if so, how and for what purpose? And that's just for starters.

Don't feign ignorance or naivete. There's a veil of secrecy around this entire operation.

I think it's more like Fire, Ready, OK now that we blew a bunch of stuff up, let's look at what we should aim at. That's how Musk operates. It's similar to an engineering project--try something, see how it fails, then tinker with it, try again, fail again, learn more, etc. etc.

I'm sorry but I think it's over the top hyperbole to say that some kid having the wrong access for a few days is "accessing unheard of power." Do you have proof the kid did something nefarious?

Some nerd kid

It doesn't say anything about being entitled to the data. It says unfettered access to any state program that received federal money. As a small c conservative, why would the feds need unfettered access to those databases?
To see if the money is doing what the feds wanted it to do. To see how to tweak fed spending in the future. To ensure the absence of waste, fraud, and abuse. Trust but verify, right?

"to the maximum extent consistent with law" = "entitled to"

What's wrong with this?

1. You aren't supposed to be providing care to a child or infirm adult while working.

2. It sounds like it violates gifts that one can receive as a government worker as they are receiving free room and board (at a government facility) along with having amenities installed specifically for them (like $25k to install a washer and dryer).

That’s a heck of a lot of questions. I’m sure there are answers to them that you and I don’t know.

Just like we don’t for pretty much every government department.

Would a DOGE org chart make you feel better? I really doubt it.

No. There's been virtually no transparency. Those are important questions DOGE needs to answer.

Your boyfriend's afraid to substantively respond and you're unable to, so you resort to your usual shit. I doubt that brad would post at all if you weren't here, always responding within minutes, serving as his attack dog.

Speaking of rooms, you and your boy should get one.

I’m sure they’re SGEs. I’m no one’s attack dog. But bowl I’ll be happy to meet up with you any time. I mean that. Punching your head in before you can lift your fat old arms would be nothing to me. As brad ignores you you would do well to do the same. I’d hit you so hard and so fast youd be in assisted living before you knew what happened. You’re an old nerd. Don’t tempt people who are mean

Get up. Go to church. And behave. Stop poisoning the board. Some of us enjoy it and joke around

In your dreams, mcgirly. You're a big tough guy - - from a distance.

Run along now. You still might be able to get an appointment tonight for microneedling or a mani-pedi, before binge-watching Bravo shows.

Oh I’m not a big tough guy. Just very strong and I like punching and not scared old man. Fighting is fun. Just like a sport. I may like all that stuff but I grew up in a family of brutal nailpounders. Apple.

Hello, I am being nice. CO would be calling for impeachment and imprisonment. I have suggested neither.

It may be the engineering way. But most engineers I have met are very cautious. They do not design a bridge with no idea if it works until the first car tries to cross. But then your way may explain Boeing lately. Or the guy with the Titanic submarine. He also thought he was smarter than everyone else and didn't need to test. Whatever happened to him?

Ordering people to have more access than they should with no accountability is unheard of power. Now you find me proof the guy that emailed the database was fired and I will amend. I believe a real tech employee would be fired.

Name anyone not elected and not given Senate confirmation who has had more power than Musk? Maybe Don Nelson WW2 War Production Board?

You're 5'8, 240. You couldn't punch your way out of a paper bag.

And stop with the middle-school playground threats. You're a joke and an embarrassment, dude.

I grew up in a family of nailpounders. And have lifted weights since I was 13 years old. You have no clue. I have always liked fighting. Unlike my relatives I went to school.

It’s no threat. I would kick the piss out of you. I have no doubt. You’re a beta. Like shitter. A passive aggressive beta. The grossest kind of dude

How’d you end up enemy’s with Brad?
The guy is the biggest sweetheart here.

He got me out of prison one time. Was looking at 30 to life. Everyone here has a similar story.

Everyone loves brad. Ranger won’t even respond to bowl either. Guy is a Fing dumb nerd. Fake Christian. Just shits on the board with his hyperbolic anxiety.

If either one of you had the capacity to be the bigger man and shut the f*ck up, this forum would improve immensely.
This board is ostensibly devoted to politics. There are those who troll. Those who post in good faith. Those genuinely open to opposing positions. But none of it is of any moment. Bc we’re all entrenched in our positions.

This board at its best is the collegial aspect of it. And there are posters on both sides capable of self deprecation and contributing. You and Marv and booger and Lars and mark and so many others on the left. And same on the right.

Then there are those wholly incapable of same. Just humorless bots fighting incessantly for their side and it’s pissing in the wind. I cannot stand that crowd. Then when they go in on the genuinely nice guys here for fun my tolerance evaporates.

Anyway. It’s all moot as this is coming to an end. For better or worse

You may be right. You may be wrong. But as someone who has experience ruining the forum by responding to the guy who was wrong, I am telling you that you make it worse by responding. If you guys are going to be like this, one of you just needs to put the other on ignore, and then stick to it.

Bowl keeps responding to me and bringing up brad. I love brad. Brad NEVER responds to bowl. I’m happy to respond to him. Just as I’d be happy to make his ears touch. What do I care

I don’t see any reason to believe negative DOGE reporting. Much of it is false, and more is just stupid, the rest is petty. I wish we had an honest relevant and intelligent press.
