Alright, a bit OT and as true as this statement is, has there ever been a less qualified, in over one’s head more than this current mayor? As a former long time city resident and still often work there 30 years later, he’s pathetic!! The city’s well being be damned, he will do whatever the CTU and Cook County board tell him to do.

Unfortunately IU doesn’t have the stomach to deservedly fire him in season. We’re going to watch this sh!t show all season. They’ll win and game or two and get our hopes up and then lose a couple they should win. Agony all year long.
Yeah, but it's not like the Bears were firing Walter Payton. Woody gets this season, but he's a dead man walking if you ask me.
Even if he was as valuable to us as Payton was to the Bears (and I hate going down this path but I believe he wasn't-- as great a player as he was), he's sadly killing his playing legacy by playing this out. If things goes as most of us expect, pulling this band aid off slowly is going to be painful for everyone.
No question his legacy is being tarnished as we speak. That might be unfair, but he's never going to be viewed with as much love and appreciation now as he was when he was just viewed as one of the all time great IU players. The best thing he could do now is step down graciously at the end of the season and throw his full support behind the University and his successor. It would be a shame if he went out bitter and resentful.

Personally, my guess is Mike's a pro. He will gladly take the money as long as it's given and I don't think he cares if you give it to him all at once at the end of this season, or over the rest of his contract, but he's not going to leave any on the table. If the rumors are true of him spending so much time on the golf course this summer, I'd guess he'd be happy to get a lump sum to end the season. This can't be fun for him either.

First off, disclaimer, I am a Purdue grad. But firing Woodson and promoting Cheaney is a very dangerous move. What if Calbert turns the team around and gets them into a 8 or 9 seed in the NCAA? How do you NOT give him the reins and a 5 year deal? If you want to go whaling for a coach at the end of the year, the safe play is let Woodson run out the string and do not allow yourself to get caught in another bad situation regarding a legacy player as coach.
I'd worry about that when the time comes. I'm not so sure CC would even want the gig
hell, I'd take Hummel right now. he seems to have a better handle on how college bball operates than woodson
That's the kicker. I don't know that any coach would willingly step down midseason. At that point he no longer gets a say in the matter. That's not something you can negotiate.
If he is fired (IMO, he should have been fired after last year) I think the chances of this getting bitter and resentful are close to 100%.
I don't think Woodson's ego will allow him to walk away gracefully! i.e. the "true fan" comment.
Everything is negotiable. He could offer to resign without giving up any of his buyout, to save IU the embarassment of having to fire one of their own and admitting they made a bad decision in hiring him in the first place.
Woodson isn't stepping down. This team is "5-2". Of course that does not represent the reality of this team and its coach. You can't negotiate a departure with a coach who has a "winning record". When 3 or 4 conference beatdowns in a row, including one or two in the Hall happens, it is going to sour and snowball. Woodson knows very well how to separate himself from criticism...he's made a career out of it. The legacy respect he gets will carry him through this season. It is almost unbelievable that the amount of financial investment that has been made at IU via NIL will likely result in a bubble situation and/or low seed.....again. I agree with others that a Chris Beard should be brought in. He's 51. I just don't know if Indiana University is willing to hire a coach of that calibur. They haven't since RMK was fired....not even close.
Dolson has huge leverage after the Cig hire and the football success. Quinn is a bug on his windshield.

No1 is bigger than IU basketball. He is about to find that out the hard way. Sad, but IU fans are going to hold him in the same light as Archie. Anyone my age or younger, hell 10 years older than me and younger, never saw Woody play and could care less about what he did in the black and white tv era.
You’re probably right but for us old geezers it’s taken a lot to reach the point of disgust we’re at right now. He was fun to watch just like Cheney.
To think we’ve wasted another four years pisses me off so much. What pisses me off worse right now is he could muddle through the rest of the season, make the dance, win a couple games and we get him another year.
I think he needs to for sure make the sweet 16 or win the big ten to stay. Will be boos this week at the hall. I’ll be saying a few words of encouragement to Mikey Tuesday.
Sitting here reading comments on two boards while watching the Colts. Just before reading your post I was thinking the mood I am in I could get in trouble at the games this week. I was thinking about sending an email to Scott asking where the line is to get thrown out of AH. 😂
Way more than 5k and we had a great time. The IU basketball part sucked, but I'd do it again. Great time.
