The bowl games that are not playoff games have very little interest or meaning because so many of the best players do not want to risk injury by playing. Now these players are getting paid good bucks and got a free education to play for the football team. Then, when it comes time to play a big bowl game, they bolt from the team and from their teammates. A win in a bowl game can elevate the program and prestige to the program and also help with recruiting to the program. So they get paid for doing their job and then flip off the team team, the program and their followers the fans. In my opinion, they didn’t finish the job or their share of the “contract.”
Now that players are getting paid, they should be required to play bowl games.
