Not a fan of silly bench theatrics

The rehearsed theatrics displayed by the subs on the IU bench (crossing their legs in unison or drinking out of an imaginary teacup in unison, etc. after a good IU play) makes them look like a Mickey Mouse operation. Pay attention to the game, cheer on your teammates, and be 100% ready to play if called upon. I thought that it was a bad look when the Nebraska bench would do this crap a few years ago, and it is a bad look now. It made Tim Miles look like even more of a goober. These antics are what one would expect out of a middle of the pack mid-major CMW needs to put a stop to it.

Now get off my lawn.

Go Hoosiers

I was also thinking on the standing up jumping around all the time. I didnt notice in the 2nd half but could see on offense somebody mistaking someone for a guy in the game on a glance and throwing it out of bounds

I agree. Even worse, the crossing-of-legs routine was stolen from the bench of the Kokomo High School girls team from about 10-12 years ago. Those girls did all those stupid routines.

This was one of the best girls teams in Indiana history and really didn't need a bench, so I'm sure those bench players didn't have much else to do.

I'd rather see IU's bench keep its head in the game in case one of them could come in the game and, I don't know, hit a 40-foot Hail Mary off the backboard or something to win it.

Haha What? This has ALWAYS been a thing in this sport. I swear, people want to whine about everything now-a-days.
It's one thing for someone like Larry Bird to taunt the opponents' bench before the game "I'm going to score 40 points tonight and there's nothing you can do about it," followed by Larry Bird scoring 40+ points. Now THAT's what I call fun.

But, it's something else for bench players to be sitting on the floor doing non-basketball things like drinking from an imaginary teacup -- that can't possibly be supporting players on the court in an important, extremely close game (the players on court better not even be looking at it).

And, I think Leal was part of the bench stupidity but then I saw him in the game after Bohannon's backboard lucky shot, for no other purpose than to hit a three to keep us alive.

I don't have any reason to think Leal was fully focused on hitting a gamewinning shot. After all, his season-long three point percentage is 31.8% (he's hardly automatic). If he really was part of the benchmob performance, maybe he would better have just given out a spirit stick to the starters (like in high school).

Have you ever known an average shooter that made himself better by clowning around in a game?

I don't mind a little but don't need to see some of that. I get kids having fun and all but to me when you are a struggling program? I get Mike can't be on everything and mostly guys that will never play etc. We have almost zero margin for error as it is. If JG could be standing and jumping on the sideline but couldn't play? I get the walk ons. I guess I am more a hand the ball to ref when you score a TD and act like you have been there before.

You know who were the best clowners ever?

The IU Baseball team during the late Smith years. Thos guys were hilarious, and it caught on with College Baseball teams everywhere, but IU was the best.

It's even a worse look when your team ends up losing the game. At least Nebraska whipped IU after their clowns' bench performance.

Not a fan of it generally, but I guess given the apparently better team morale compared to the past few years, I'll take it. Hopefully it's short-lived.

I don't get the Tea thing or the putting out the cigarette thing.

But as long as the kids do...

How do you know he cares?

That is quite an extrapolation from what I said . Whatever dumb argument . Whether Mike knows to what degree it goes on It needs toned down
Ok I’ll tell him you said that. Smfh. You know exactly what you mean.

Wow, really, this is what you want to bitch about? Get off your lawn is probably your mantra!

Like someone else said, they are kids, let them have their fun.

I am glad there is some excitement in the program once again.

Why does it need to be toned down? Just because you don't like it?

Whatever dude. God forbid they have fun.

I guess you’re right. You whining about my post is a spot on example of “people want to whine about everything now-a-days.”

Get off my lawn!!! Who gives a rats ass how those kids choose to celebrate. Be happy they are invested in the game enough to do something and remain involved whether they get in or not.

The Purdue bench was motioned by a ref to sit down today . The baseball analogy in a dugout is a different one compared to the sidelines in basketball and a distraction to the game.

I have watched all the IU games and a couple twice, I never noticed anything besides them being excited and into the game.

Our program has been an absolute dumpster fire for 2 decades and people are complaining about the bench guys having fun on the sidelines? No wonder we can’t have any success.

Didn’t our bench get a T for jumping up out of their seats during the Duke final four game?

The Hoosiers put together three tough games against great competition. Woody shuts up the naysayers about his coaching ability. So there is nothing to complain about - right? Wrong!

What's crazy is they all act like their super best buddies..
But in reality..4 or so are already thinking about their exit to be announced soon.
I'm cool wit it..
Just be into the game and go with the non rehearsed...jmo
