northwestern is actually pretty damn good.

Northwestern got Homered tonight. Foul difference: NW 31 PU 15

My opinion is that Collins was barking about the Offensive Wrap Around that wasn't called on PU.

It was 99-96 when that foul was called against NW.
That’s exactly what he was pissed about. Well, that and the game-long screw job they got. Had the ref called that hook and charge, NW would’ve had a chance to tie. With those guards and Barnhizer, I’d like their chances.

Side note: Buey got bumped on his drive in regulation by jones or the game wouldn’t have gotten to OT.

Since you OBVIOUSLY didn't watch the game. How was NW supposed to get fouls if they shot 80% of their shots as long jump shots? @bleedin'red
I watched it.

Same as most of their games. Edey had about 15 clear offensive fouls. 4-5 over the backs. 7-8 3 second violations.

Good luck with non B10 refs. Everyone has seen how you guys fare without them.

Yes, that should have absolutely been a foul on Jones, and I don't blame Collins for being pissed.

Then you don't understand the rules of the game. Did you even know that over the back is not an actual call? Probably not based on this comment.

Hey man...Indiana's state of basketball affairs is so horrific why are you even bothering with this?? I only tune in because it's too difficult to look away from the train wreck.
I was going to comment on how Northwestern played lights out and came across a bunch of hot takes that had no basis in reality.

I never said he doesn't foul, but he doesn't camp in the lane. I would love for you to actually find me 5 instances of him doing that. You either never watch our games or don't know the rule. Zach is very good about not getting 3 second calls
Hahahaha! He’s “very good about not getting 3 second calls” is a helluva lot different than “he’s never in the lane for more than 3 seconds.”

They go hand in hand. He's almost never in the lane more than 3 seconds. You can be in the lane close to 3 seconds but as long as you're making a move to get out, you won't be called. Know the rules. Zach isn't called, because he isn't violating it.

Yup… very aware. Refs even refer to it as over the back though, and it’s commonly still used to describe what Edey does regularly. When he goes over a defender and doesn’t touch them before grabbing the ball, no foul. When he contacts the defender before the ball, which hinders the defenders legal chance at grabbing the ball…it’s a foul…and he does that a lot.

The putback dunk is an example of that. His body hit the NW defender and pushed him under the basket, before he grabbed the ball and dunked it. Looks like a legal play because the player was cleared out before the rebound and dunk…and because Edey is so much bigger…but it’s a foul.

And you’re not allowed to displace a defender by force…ever. Edey does it on most possessions. Usually by sticking his leg into the defenders body and then turning. His body movement moves the defender off their legal guarding position…should be a foul. Also, the play I referred to…Edey often posts with his arms wide and high…good technique. But many times because of his size his arms end up contacting defenders in their shoulder and neck areas. He does that a lot, and then walks his defender up the lane to get better position. Again…displacing a defender off their legal guarding position…foul.

He gets hammered as well, obviously. But there is ZERO question not calling it either way gives PU and Edey the advantage.

Any game it’s called anywhere near correctly, Purdue will struggle. NCAA tourney games are prime candidates for that.

After watching them a handful of times this year, it’s obvious they will have big trouble again in the tournament with half-decent officiating.

They set a lot of illegal screens. They play very physical on the ball defense. Those things alone, when/if they have to adjust will cause them problems. If/when Edey can’t do what Edey does, they have zero chance at beating good teams.

If a ref refers to it as over the back then that's a bad ref. You can reach over someone for a rebound as long as you don't touch them. Edey is big enough that he often does that.

I'd have to see the play you're referring to. I'm sure things get missed, but to insinuate that Edey fouls more than he gets fouled is just ignorant.

And a defender can't displace an offensive player by force either, yet they allow it constantly. You can't be pissed about one while allowing the other.

This just isn't reality.

13-8. Blue bloods. So sad. So sad. The poor football and academics is to be expected. But, when a true blue blood like IU gets obliterated at home by 21 against their rivals you have to feel sad. What else is there? NIT bound.

Neither of these things are remotely true. You don't watch PU basketball if you believe these things. We are one of the least physical teams on the perimeter.

I will say that I don't like how Edey sets screens and I'm always worried he'll be called the way he keeps his legs spread. You actually have a valid argument there. Everything else is fantasy land.

Morton, Gillis, TKR and Jones arent physical defenders? Hmmm. And Smith and Loyer are often out of position, and have to make up for it by hanging on and reaching in. Many teams get penalized for that…for some reason they often don’t. Until they do early against teams like FDU…and their forced to back off…and well…

No, they aren't. That's why we get beat to the rim with a good guard. Because we don't grab and foul like you claim.

This didn't happen vs FDU either. Not sure why you're trying to claim that it did, but it didn't. It's like you think the entire officiating crews have a bias for Purdue and Purdue only. Do you realize how crazy that sounds?

That game was lost because we couldn't hit a wide open 3. Plain and simple.

Well what a coincidence, because your last game, I can’t recall whom it was, a reporter had four instances recorded with a stopwatch running. Everyone around me counted to 10 one time in our game. He IS good at not getting them. Lol

Ha ha. They absolutely abused PU off the dribble. Because they weren’t allowed to play defense how they normally do.

I didn’t say they were particularly good at it. But the guys I mentioned certainly try to be very physical. And Smith and Loyer use their hands A LOT to make up for being out of position and getting beaten regularly.

Kurt has abandoned this thread., he doesn't partake in this IU v Purdue back and forth with their fans. he went there once and tried to talk sense to them and they banned him, so he has no interest in reading their shit..
Does Kurt speak of himself in third person now?
