Serious question. Who would you vote for? Who are the next wave. I’ll comment and answer after a few answers. Republicans and Democrats feel free to comment on who you like from both sides.

I consider myself a left of center Dem.

Pete Buttigieg - yeah, I know the paternity leave fiasco left a stain but I would still consider him or someone like him. Smart. Measured. Not a flaming progressive. Not AOC lite.

Conor Lamb - probably not going to happen as Fetterman won the dem senate primary in PA but, again, smart, measured, military experience, etc.

Bernie - we either end up in Utopia or the Progressive wing crashes and burns.

I can count 3 Dems I like. Not sure of any Republicans. I’m very center. Dad was a Blue dog, mother was a Republican.

I’ve become cynical enough that I believe every single person who would run for President or Senate in the US today is a corrupt narcissist.

I’m for a constitutional amendment that changes how we elect representatives and president: forbid campaigning and just poll people for who they would like to see running the nation. At this point, I’ll take Tom Hanks or that chick Disney fired over the rest of these people. (Of course, that would land us with Trump again, so this is also a bad idea). So pick them out of a phone book.

You mean Tom Hanks the pedo? Heard he likes the adrenochrome. (Says all the crazy “q’s”.) I seriously heard a guy say this.

That's Hanks in the background right?

the high water mark on the right at this point is DeSantis. A guy smart enough to know trolling isn't helpful but does it anyway.

Haley can't even get a sniff.

We're probably doomed.
Haley sucks. Will be Trump, Desantis, and then Vance in the Oval for 20 years starting 01/2025.

A good chief executive does not need to be the smartest person in the room. I think we need people who

Are decisive
Can take a punch
Are not goalpost thinkers
Have the experience of meeting and overcoming challenges
Prioritizes respect for others over friendliness, empathy, or other ingratiating conduct.

I think there are thousands of people who can be excellent presidents, but our system does not give them a chance. We need to think about the system, not the people.

Pete might make a useful advisor. He can never be the Man.

if we're making changes, can we do campaign finance reform? Might help get us some candidates that aren't the narcissists you mention if money didn't play such a huge role in getting elected.

Interesting choice of words......

If you'd consider Bernie, you'd love Argentina!

Kinda like with Trump...a bit of "what's the worst that could happen". We survived that.

Plus if it doesn't work or becomes an even bigger clusterf*ck, well - we tried.

No, it's nothing like Trump. Despite what you think of him personally, his Presidency was a success by most any measure. We did more than just survive - we thrived as a country.
