New Orleans attack

I remember when a 12-4 Colts team had to go play an 8-8 Chargers team on the road. Was complete BS.
That was the infamous Mike Scifres game. I’ll never forget it.

The dude punted 6 times. All of them finished inside the 20 yard line, 4 of them inside the 10, and the last one went out of bounds at the 1.

He did more to win that game for the chargers than any other player they had.

It was unbelievable.

Don't get me wrong; I'm fine with those being the rules. A reward for winning the division is either a bye or a home game? Fine with me. But in real life, the Lions and Vikings are clearly the two best teams in the NFC, and the loser this week will suffer a punishment similar to non-champions in college. I'm just pointing out that the NFL's system doesn't always prevent the exact same type of thing we are complaining about with the college system.
I understand your point and agree. As an aside: One huge difference is that in the pros you play a home and home against your division, and non-division opponents are based on strength, and so is the draft. Apples and oranges. But again, point taken

Right. If they are not employees nor contractors, what are they? They have almost no control over their job, they aren't contractors. Unless Congress passes a law carving out student athlete as a classification, they will be employees and it will happen soon. The NCAA clearly hires lawyers from the discount rack

If they collectively bargain I believe they have to be ees. As for ncaa I knew the associate director of enforcement. Died just a few years ago. Real sweet guy. Played soccer at navy @Aloha Hoosier

I'm not saying it isn't coming. I'm saying it's gonna turn schools upside down. Name a MAC or SBC school that can afford to do all the things required to square all those things Murt and I mentioned and then start sending check that don't bounce. You can't. It's a huge liability if no special consideration is given by the government.

A quick look, it all depends on the state. So Indiana can pass a law making students not employees for workers comp.

It appears CA has a rule one has to play for a CA pro team, a Patriots player getting hurt in a CA game doesn't count. In another page I saw FL puts a strict time limit on how long after the injury athletes are covered

Given the NCAA could not win a lawsuit over the correct spelling of NCAA, that seems to be the road to take.

OK, but Murt is your guy with the workman's comp angle.

there'll still be all of the federal stuff and the back pay for wages (& taxes) to current and former athletes.

I have a bad feeling there are guys like the terrorist last night and the cell he was probably a part of.

While our FBI was spending time worrying about Catholics and Parents at School Board Meetings, they should have been concentrating on real terrorist threats not political thought Garland didn’t like.

You're talking about the FBI that foiled the Iranian plot to assassinate Trump? The FBI has different sections to concentrate on different categories of threats. The Counter Terrorism Division is on this. Also Garland is the AG. The FBI works directly for long-time Republican, Trump appointed Wray.

The FBI is capable of doing more than one thing at a time.

Where is BLM? Wasn’t this another police shooting?
Has the FBI checked to see if this was an electrical malfunction.

That kind of thing is more common now that they moved from six divisions to eight. It's just too hard to have any sort of consistent competitive balance across all divisions. There will always be a couple of shitty division champions hosting a couple of really quality wild card teams.
Exactly. They call them the AFC South and the NFC South.

I wouldn't say the mayor.......but what about the chief of police?? She sounded like a female Elmer Fudd explaining how the terrorist out-witted her by driving up on the sidewalk and around the parked vehicle. WTH??
The Chief works for the Mayor, so if the Chief is incompetent the Mayor should have replaced her.

The governor is the only guy at the podium that seems to be qualified for the job. I've yet to hear anyone else have a grasp of what's going on. The FBI and ATF folks who have taken a turn are pathetic and inspire zero confindence. The bald ATF guy this morning who had to yell over the sound of his pages being turned in his notebook was a joke. Even with his notebook, he couldn't get a clear thought across with any kind of confidence.

As a bullshitter thorugh and through, confidence and authoritative delivery (plus eye contact) generally work.

although as I grow older, non verbal communication seems to be far more effective. Subtle eye rolls, looks of confusion or mystery, furrowed brow/pondering.

Being tall helps, not gonna lie. Hair's still holding strong too. Sorry @mcmurtry66
