New Orleans attack

@Farva Don't Come Around --

You may or may not be aware your new handle is on pre-approval. (You're not the only one.) That's a function of Rivals, not Jim or the mods. If you don't see your posts appearing, it's because it appears I'm the only mod who is dealing with this bullshit and I'm not going to be here all the time.

I don't either...if there's a clearly defined, mathematic seeding pattern like the NFL, and it's not simply a beauty contest...which it is now.

I wouldn't say it was a beauty contest this time around. The conference champs got in by rule, and the at-large picks got in based on their records. A beauty contest would have left us out.

Pretty pathetic. Every other day someone that crossed the border murders someone, or multiple people.

Joe Biden and Mayorkas would be sent to the guillotine and pelted with shit on their way in a just world.

The governor just declared a state of emergency. The FBI has already said there were likely 4-5 people involved.

Sounds like multiple people involved in the attack. Hopefully this is the only attack, given a game underway and another about to start.

I see some of that, but am not going all in on this being anything more than a lone wolf until I see some more.

Least surprising revelation ever.

I am pretty much anti-immigration (all of it) at this point until this government can properly secure the border and vet and then boot the majority of the people here who aren't here legally. From people whose visas have expired to folks who were allowed to traipse across our border, y'all gotta go. After that, then we'll have a discussion about legal immigration.

Deport all Texans!

I assume this is why it was postponed. Don’t think law enforcement can definitively rule anything out right now in NOLA.

Reportedly the players and others at the players hotel are on lockdown. Perhaps they think there is addl coordination possible?

Not so fast. Are you saying college football hasn’t been approaching the NFL in just about every way imaginable? Give it a couple of years and let’s see how indistinguishable they are.

Didn’t Andrew Luck just become the “GM” at Stanford? Hmmmmmm . . .
We don't have leagues with divisions and wild cards and all that stuff. But they do play home games until the final game.

Be serious. I don’t care what the supposed citizenship status. That guy is not American in any sense of the word. Look at him. He’s a product of a broken immigration system.
I’ll concede they are criminals. So are jaywalkers. Let’s be serious. We’re talking violent crime and theft.
No. You and I have committed crimes. In the moment. And then lamented them afterwards.

Those staying here illegally are knowingly committing a continual crime for which they could turn themselves in at any time.

They live a life of criminality. Definitionally.

This is the kind of terrorism that has become a matter of course in Europe but we see relatively less of here.

I’ve maintained for a long time that we’re extremely lucky to have predominately Mexicans and South Americans invading our country rather that Africans and Middle Easterns.
How do you define 'a matter of course'? Terrorism in western democracy's has been on a steady decline and in 2023 there was a 55% drop and 76% of terrorist caused deaths occurred in the US.

In 2023, the US accounted for 76% of terrorism-related deaths in Western democracies, amid a 15-year low in incidents.

Terrorism incidents in Western democracies recorded a drop of 55% compared to the previous year. There were 23 attacks that resulted in 21 fatalities, marking a 15-year low. However, the US recorded 76% of these fatalities from seven attacks. Five of these attacks were linked to individuals with far-right beliefs yet none had an affiliation with a far-right group.

Sounds like you’ll have to screen all my posts before they hit the board. I’m okay with it if you are.

I don’t know what this means. Sounds like a lot of mumbo jumbo. Are we supposed to infer something from these supposed links.

The issue I see with the neutral sites is shitty environments. Half empty stadiums. Fans don’t have the time or money to go to that many away games.
I like the home sites, but I think they should allocate at least 30 percent to visiting team, maybe 40. If visitors don’t sell them all, they go back to home team.

They don’t have neutral sites in NFL playoffs until Super Bowl.

Even with all that stuff, it still doesn't always work out. The loser of the Vikings-Lions game this Sunday in a just world would be the #2 seed hosting a game in the first round. Instead, they will be the #5 seed playing on the road.
