In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate and equally important groups; the police who investigate crime and the district attorney who prosecutes offenders.

I steadfastly oppose Gaetz and do so based upon what is publicly known about him.

Having said that, I also steadfastly oppose releasing the contents of the investigation. Several reasons

1. The subject of the investigation has no due process with the investigation. No right to confront an accuser or even know who it is. No right to cross examine. No right to appear and without knowing the basis of the charge, any defense would be a problem.
2. Those who appear and give testimony at the hearings have immunity from any defamation charges.
3. We cannot and must not determine this question based on Gaetz or what he has been nominated for. There is more at stake than this individual. The senate can, and should, do its own investigation.

This issue is not about Gaetz or Trump. I think Gaetz is slimy, dishonest, and has no professional demeanor. He is an awful choice for AG. That’s not enough to toss the rules and release the report.

Gaetz will do a good job. he seems measured and thoughtful and his legal career is unassailable. he spent a little time with a firm with a handful of lawyers in okaloosa county where he handled a workers' comp case, some traffic matters, and a few associate level negligence actions.

First, Kamala had no authority to do it. Second, Biden never flew on the plane (that info was in the trial and has been released) and has never been connected to Epstein. Why didn’t Trump?

My guess is there actually is no additional “Epstein file” or “tapes” that exists and probably never has been. The speculation about this all originated in wingnut conspiracy theory world.

Release what? And would Biden or Harris even have the authority to do so if some smoking gun file existed? I know he's the president but he's not a king. I honestly don't know the legality of that.

I don't mistake questioning a conspiracy as dismissal. If these files exist and they can be released then they should. Anyone on them should go down in flames and never be heard from again.
