More Defense, 26 sacks and Safeties had 0 interceptions

This is the issue. We have no ball hawks at safety. We had 5 picks all year. Yes we need more pass rush with 4 or 5 but the safety play was horrible.

We seem to feature Chasers back there instead of Safeties. And we're not really very good at chasing...too sloooooooow.

Teegardin has struggled to develop safeties. We need more speed back there too.

Isn’t some of it awareness as well though? The ball that bounced in the air off the Purdue WR knees...,.we didn’t have anybody looking for that ball. It flipped up in the air 10 yards down the field!!! 3 guys standing around.

Safety play in the passing game wasn't very good this season. We do need more speed at those positions and use safeties less in the run game. We have some very good LBs in the younger classes and hopefully the front will do much better on the run and pass rush with letting the safeties focus more on the passing game. Too many times our front is put in bad situations to stop the run. I was hoping coach Wommack was going to simplify the defense and let the athletes cut loose but that didn't see to happen.
