Watching UConn vs Memphis on ESPN 2. Memphis quickness and length giving McNeeley fits. I haven’t seen him play much but he looks awful today.

UConn is missing Newton badly. Their current PGs aren't near his caliber.

Lol. Now of course they will win. Memphis was at 98% chance to win near the end of regulation.

Would of loved to see him in candy stripes one reason can't wait for Woody to be gone.
I mean zero chance we would have landed him if we were in the last 15 years before woody. Woody has got more players here than anytime in my life. They just need to hit this year. The “stars” from HS, and college awards the guys on our team have earned is insane.

Woody has the advantage of top-5 to 10 levels of money to pay players. Our previous coaches didn’t — we sure weren’t near the top of under the table cash payments.

Crean would have been pretty good in the NIL era. He landed some good recruits straight up without the NIL crutch.

Are you sure about that? Troy Williams, Noah Vonleh, Thomas Bryant ...
Coming off the Sampson debacle we were pretty clean. Nothing like the other big schools.

Tom wasn’t great, but he was operating in a different world.

Uncle Boo!!! Hell we cheated gettin hanner. Crean was bad at it mostly. Our current staff is primed for it. They really need to cash in on the talent this year!!

We weren’t all clean.
Yea I said pretty clean. Our NCAA probation ended in 2011, which included all sorts of rules compliance training/reporting, and getting caught during or right after that would be some serious trouble with the NCAA + embarrassment.

The key takeaway is we weren't close to UK, KU, UNC, Duke, and the other bigger programs in terms of paying players. In the NIL era we are right there with them. It's a massive difference.

I'm just glad we self reported to the NCAA.

Really worked out well for us.

20 years later, Sampson is a perennial top 20 coach and what he did and what we self reported isn't even illegal anymore.

We don't have much to cheer about those 20 years, either. Turd City.

My pet peace argument ….. “not even illegal anymore”. Dumbest argument evrrr!!! It’s the ADVANTAGE you get because others can’t do it. It’s like saying two of are shots would be three pointers now so really won that game in 1985 based on the rules today. And Im not talking about IU. I don’t even know what Sampson did for sure. Just hate that ridiculous argument.

should not the punishment fit the crime? the death penalty over something, again, that was no longer illegal just a few years later?

we didn't cheat on grades, pay players, pay handlers, bribe AAU coaches, etc.

Those damn pet peace’s will get you every time.

It’s not a moral issue dude. For example…paying players. It’s not inherently wrong to pay for a person’s services. Our whole society is based on it. That doesn’t mean it was ok to pay players before NIL just because it’s ok now. It’s was still cheating because of the ADVANTAGE. And again, I’m not talking about IU. I have no idea if they were trested fairly. Just saying the fact that something is allowed now is irrelevant and a dumb argument. Louisville fans do that for losing their”title” for paying players. “Well, it’s legal now so to wasn’t cheating….” So dumb.
