Is Steve Lavin, who I thought we should have tried to get after Sampson. He had good success at UCLA and I thought he would have had St. John's on the right track if it hadn't been for his cancer diagnosis in his 2nd season there. And he has been an assistant coach in the Big 10 (at Purdue).
Results at UCLA:
-97: 24-8 (15-3) NCAA Elite 8
-98: 24-9 (12-6) Sweet 16
-99: 22-9 (12-6) Sweet 16
-00: 21-12 (10-8) Sweet 16
-01: 23-9 (14-4) Sweet 16
-02: 21-12 (11-7) Sweet 16
-03: 10-19 (6-12)
Results at St. John's:
-11: 21-12 (12-6) NCAA 1st Round
-12: 2-2 (Had to step away for health reason)
-13: 17-14 (8-8) NIT 2nd Round
-14: 20-13 (10-8) NIT 1st Round
-15: 21-12 (10-8) NCAA 1st Round
